‘21 platinum OEM bed lights

Just got my ‘21 platinum back in July and like the look of the OEM bed lights but have no idea where to purchase them. Has anyone installed them and where did you buy them.

 

I got mine from a south east toyota dealer. Install was straight forward, routing the wires from the cab sucked but wasn't hard.

 

Do you happen to have the part number?

I had bed lights in 2 Tacomas. They are pretty much worthless if you have anything in the bed. Tundra has LED bulbs in the cargo light. They light up the bed and area behind the truck. I can skin and quarter a deer with the cargo light on.

Ran wire up to battery.

 

This is what I did. I did the two color option With the under hood light as well. Great product.

 

I'll snap a picture at night, they are pretty good at lighting up bed in addition to led cargo lights. If you're running a cover of any kind the strip lights would probably work better.

 

I was just checking out the website. I was looking for an explanation on the website but I didn’t see it, for what is the power source for these kits? Can they be toggled on at any time as in the truck doesn’t have to be on or anything? Just wondering where the power gets hooked up and is it relatively plug and play? Thanks!

 

Most tap off the cargo light circuit..
That is what the Toyota OEM instructions say as well.

I initially installed the OEM in my 2014.



When one of the LEDs petered out a few years later I made my own using LEDs from Amazon.
Aftermarket strips are a much better option, especially if you have not already drilled or have holes for the OEM corner lights.

Whatever you chose you can tap into the cargo light circuit, they don't raw much power.
Then you can use the cargo switch to turn them on if the truck isn't running.
Or they will come open whenever the cargo lights come (unlock and/or opening doors) on depending on your switch setting.

You could wire them directly to the battery, but I know I'd forget about them they would rain the battery.

I only put mine on the sides..

 

In my Tacomas I toggled off the cargo light circuit. Lights came on with door open. I tried the strip lights. They did not last long. I switched to 8" IP68 rated marine lights and NPs.

 

Wired directly to battery with switch in back. @mattgecko will answer any questions. I have a Renegade cover and a BedRug and these lights are fabulous.

 

I've got the Morimoto 3rd brake light. The bed lights are angled inwards towards the cab. I would have gone with the VLEDS but I got these for 50 dollars. Not disappointed with the output, totally worth it.

Can the Gecko ones be wired to come on when the door opens?

 

Any lights you put in the bed can be wired to come on when doors are opened. Just after to know which wire to tap into. On a Tacoma I had I tapped into a wire under the rear door.
