I just bought a 2002 Sequoia and realized it will be much cheaper and easier to replace the whole engine with all facets instead of replacing part by part. Everyone hates that “it’s always something” car.
Can someone suggest a reputable seller for replacement engines. I’ve seen eBay, can those sellers be trusted?

The only thing about fleaBay is, you're at the mercy of getting the engine installed fast enough, so you have some form of recourse. I'd personally want to buy locally from a seller that could provide guarantee/warranty. Also, make sure you receive direct proof of compression/leakdown on the engine you buy, and get the engine harness if possible.

That said, you're limited on what engines are a direct swap, so make sure you fully understand what years are compatible, the wiring differences with the throttle body/assembly etc. from year to year [OR] make sure you don't get anything newer than 2004 AND swap every-damn-thing over.

Ask questions if you have NFC what I'm talking about. But if you're just swapping an engine in for no reason, that's a really f'n ignorant way to go about it. These engines last 500, 600, 750, we have at least one or two members with 800k miles on their 4.7!
