    Hello All,
I am new to the forum. Yesterday my exhaust muffler was hit by a big rock and started creating and loud noise. I also noted loss in power. I went under the truck and it seems at the rubber/shock absorbers it has moved by an inch and a small dent on the muffler. Any suggestions? Can I fix it myself? How much will that cost approximately and should I go through my insurance? Thank you!

Pics and we can help better

sounds like if it’s not punctured it may just need to be loosened and reset the seal then tightened back up

    Nitrogen filled tires!

Get the rock's insurance information and make them pay. If they don't have insurance just drive it cause your deductible will be equal to, or more, than the repair cost. Looks like the rock punctured your muffler skin. Slap some exhaust gasket seal on it and drive it. Must have been one big-ass rock!

Is it leaking from that flange?

Might be able to remove the exhaust and bend back the ‘ears’ so that you can clamp harder on the gasket.

Got it fixed, muffler shop used heat and bend the flange ears to align. Thank you.

Well that makes a good visual case for a smaller diameter, more tucked away muffler than the monster factory "suitcase" if you wheel through areas with big rocks.
Glad it was a relatively easy fix OP.
