Is there a head unit available that integrates into the dash of a 2016 SR5 truck and looks stock-ish? I’m thinking of either something smaller that keeps the buttons and knobs (mainly interested in the volume knob) OR a larger screen that takes up the full space where the buttons and knobs are. Does a larger screen system like that even exist or are they all the floating type?

Features - Android Auto or some type of navigation would be nice. Integration with the existing USB ports for MP3s so I don’t have to mess with a separate app to play audio from my phone. Also, integration with the steering wheel controls would be nice. I would like to keep HD radio functionality. Don’t care that much about satellite radio, but my truck has it so might be good to keep that functionality. Needs to be able to support the stock back-up camera. I like the idea of the Maestro system - can this display tire pressures in each tire? Doesn’t need to play disks or video but I would like a decent display resolution just so it doesn’t look like garbage.

Budget - I haven’t run across anything that’s really off-putting yet. I will bias toward the big names just because that’s what I’m familiar with.

Any of the double din units with a bezel/dash kit should integrate nicely into the dash and look like a factory fit. I had a Pioneer in my '00 where the whole face of the deck opened up to accept DVD's but was visually pretty seamless integration.

I went for one of the floating 10.1" screens (Kenwood in my case but there's other good options too) in this truck and love it. FYI, there's 3-way adjustability in the install bracket (Height/Depth/Angle) so they really don't have to stick out as much as you'd think.

Yes, Android Auto is awesome, and using my phone's NAV (Choice of Google, WAZE, whatever you prefer) is SOOO much better than my factory was. OEM wouldn't accept voice input, I had to stop and type an address.

I was little surprised that the Kenwood doesn't support playback from my old iPod, but I guess that's so last century. It might be device dependent? I play mostly Spotify & XM so I wasn't too worried about it.

The individual wheel TPMS readouts might depend on whether or not your '16's can bus currently supports that functionality. Do you have individual tire displays on your dash cluster?
My Kenwood/Maestro displays the 4 tires, but so does my dash.

I'd think most any of the current big name offerings will support your OEM camera. I added a front camera with the new HU and recommend it highly, makes my life much easier and I can stuff this big beautiful pig into spots I would not even attempt without it.

Maestro is very cool... I not only retained steering wheel controls, I gained a few as you can program a secondary function for a "Press & Hold" of some of the buttons. I have a press/hold that activates the front cam, one for TPMS, and one for the gauge pack (another nice feature of the Maestro)

I know you said you don't need video, but it's not a bad way to kill time if you're stuck somewhere or to entertain your "passengers" on a road trip.

Thanks for the reply! The typical double-din types lose the volume dial, unfortunately. I guess the closest to what I'm looking for is the Dasaita radio. It looks like that one doesn't have HD radio, unfortunately. That's nice to have, but not the worst to lose. I'm finding a lot more complexity to this than I anticipated as I look through the forums. I thought my truck was basic enough not to have an amplifier, but maybe it does! More stuff to investigate. These radio changes just aren't as simple as they used to be.

    It doesn't have to!!

One of the things that swayed me to the Kenwood (I was also considering Alpine) was the actual big-ass volume knob on the Kenwood.

If you enter your truck info on Crutchfield you can filter by Volume Knob: Yes and touch screen size. In short, the only "big brands" I see that are ~7" and fit in the dash are Jensen, Boss and Dual. Larger floating screens with a volume knob are primarily the higher end Kenwoods. Lots of people have good luck with the Daisaita head units although there are some quirks here and there but overall they get a good rep. Also, Alpine makes a wireless volume knob for $80 that can be connected to a few of their models, and directly mounted to a couple:

If wanting a factory looking head unit with volume knob I'd probably go the iLX-507 +Metra Dash kit + wireless volume knob.
