Wrong on so many ways. Come up to Colorado. IPA's are not niche here. This ain't Texas.

Whatever this forum told me to do
they are not niche in the microbrew world.

In total barrels brewed in USA....not so much.

I'm thankful Colorado has a calling to craft brewing.

Texas shit the bed on that....greed got it.

    You just wait
They should just focus on getting rid of beer entirely and make only hard ciders

There's a liquor store near my house that exists almost exclusively on craft beer sales. They have one short shelf of wine and one short shelf of liquor. The rest is beer.

At least 80% of the cooler space is craft beer. The rest is split between ciders and those types of things and a couple cases of PBR.

Try doing it against your will (but not against your better judgement) for 3 weeks. MRI is Wednesday, so we'll see what it'll take to un-fv(k my brain. Probably going to be a while longer.

I have bottles of Weller's, Eagle Rare, and Old Forrester 1910 that might spoil before I can drink them.

Don’t know…hopefully the Dry January and then go from there. But I have a trip next week with some really annoying people so no promises.

In the long run I need to drop some weight and get back to 1-2 drinks per week maximum.

Is it because that Schlitz bull hat is the one most often worn?

The individual retail store mangers, beverage directors and bar managers dictate what gets stocked in their store not some conspiracy mafia you speak of. I'm not sure what kind of fuckery Texas laws allow, but here in the land of freedom we control what we sell. And you'll find that yes a lot of shitty water beer gets sold. But also yes a lot of craft beer gets sold as well. On my list of 18 options I have only 3 of the big corporate operations beers. As well as 3 IPA's 1 cider and 1 Sour. Everything I'm not mentioning is either a stout, A wheated beer, a Scottish ale, a few lagers or an amber and a GF. And even though every now and again someone asks for an ultra, or worse, bad light, but those are few and far between. And it's not like they don't pick something because we do sell our own version of local piss water, AKA the silver bullet, if thats the kind of "beer" they want. In the end my point is that you're wrong. Lots of IPAs sell, and we get to choose how to develope and design the placement of them because of market demand. Of all my placements the least selling options are the GF and the sour. My best selling draft options is an IPA and my best selling canned option is a hazy IPA. This is current market data from a man who runs a bev program at very busy location. Just to make one last talking point. In beer sales alone, my program generated over $430,000 worth of revenue.

I do not doubt your insight

and I admire your biz and constituents

Restaurants and bars are indeed self governed

grocery stores are not. It’s a shelf space war. What sells gets space.

and the vast majority of beer volume is still lagers and pilsners flowing thru Walmart and such

micro brews are amazing, I just wish there was a distribution network that would make it something more than just regional successes.

I wish. My dad bought me that hat when I was in the first grade. It’s too small now. The rest of the hats are Odell, and Odell I have respect for. I’ve helped them get some difficult things done here in the past. They actually appreciated my “help” which didn’t happen very often.

They also have the only hazy beer I will drink, but I am also not into hazy beers. Really I’m not much into beer lately but this bald spot isn’t getting any smaller. Anyway Odell is a company here in town that I respect, a bright spot among a lot of depraved local business interests and leadership.

I don't think micro brews want that though. At some point in the process when revenue is the agenda it's no longer micro. The ideology of growth for the sake of growth is when it becomes a cancer cell.

I can understand that. As I've always loved Odell and what they bring to market over any of the other FOCO Breweries.

Back in the day of pre electronic ignition it seemed like replacing the points and spark plugs every 15,000 miles was the norm. Fun fun..

We can discuss them if you wish. What is your complaint? That you can't open carry and we can?

Trying to decipher your data doesn't tell me anything other than we have more gun laws. Which ones are they? IDGAF because But we can easily obtain a cc and we can open carry. What else would I need to be able to do? Pretty sure murder is the same everywhere. That's still a no no.

    Good point!

    some data for perspective

I just asked my buddy who is still at the distrib.

This is most of the Texas coast

    for 2024

micro brews are a smidge under 10% of total volume

    IPA’’s are less than 1%
