Locking all doors by touching door handle

If you go into the settings on the truck you can select whether a single press of the handle unlocks all doors or only the drivers door. Same with the remote. The default is drivers door only requiring a second press for all doors. I've got mine set to do all 4 doors with a single press.

 

If you hold the Front drivers Door handle after it unlocks and continue to hold the handle, then all of the doors will unlock.
You can also set that in the controls under entry I think, but there is a setting for this.

I've never relied on salesmen, I do enough research before I walk into a dealer I almost always know more than they do about a vehicle.
I do read my owners manuals on every car I have, minus the 200 pages that tell you how to wear a seatbelt.

I have my truck 3 weeks now and it doesn't have much mileage yet. I sit and read what owners say and take the time to explain and I'm picking up so much. Life is pretty busy like you all know and I got bored reading the manual, found this discussion group who could teach Toyota things about the vehicles they build. Very much appreciate the educated help from you all!

 

You don't know how many 3rd gen owners I run across that don't know about opening the tailgate with the button on the tail light.

I read a lot before making a big purchase and after. After the purchase I downloaded and printed out most of the manuals. I skimmed them and missed this one. But it looks like a lot of people dodn't know about it either.

 

I start reading the manual, then have to run back & forth to garage to check it all out. And I still do that when I read something new on here.

I did this as well, shortly after getting my truck I found the option while looking through the different settings.

 

Just goto "You Tube" University type in Tundra Hacks you'll get a quick scope on some hacks.

 

I'm guessing you guys don't know about the rear window roll down sensor between the bed and the cab. About 6 inches in on raised panel just under the window?

 

Is that the Roll UP beeper so people don’t get a hand pinched?

 

This tailgate release button in the drivers side taillight is only available on limited and above trims. My son has a 22 SR5 and it doesn't have the button, while my Limited does.

I used tailgate release button once the first week I owned the truck and have totally forgot it was there.

 

In an earliest post on this thread I mentioned that I would check if the passenger door handle would unlock like the driver’s side.
It does!

 

You can definitely set it to unlock all doors when you touch the driver's handle. It's in the settings on the touch screen. Default it only unlocks driver door unless you hold on to the handle for a few seconds.

 

Truck still shuts off after remote start when you unlock the doors but whatever, just the way it is. Don't think there is a setting to change as far as I can tell.

 

There is not. I’ve heard the new Taco fixed this but haven’t confirmed it myself.

 

Mine does the same thing. My thoughts are that when that happens it allows Wireless Android, and Apple to connect, because it seems they like the device to be in the car when started for proper syncing. I could be wrong seems logical...

 

Hey, so did I! The salesman just wanted to get me out of there and had no interest in helping me. He actually told me to go to Toyota online to watch the video(s) on the truck features. I'm in my 60's and I'm not into making people do what they don't want to do. However, I do appreciate the folk's on here who take the time to share experiences and knowledge way beyond the salesman types who couldn't care less.

 

Really nice to have, wish it was on all four doors. Wife has a Rav 4 and it has it on all four doors. Very convenient. Don't know why they won't put it on a truck that costs twice as much as a Rav. The Rav is a neat little rig though.

 

You can't reach a foot or two to the door in front of you or behind you? Putting it on all four doors is a waste of money. These fucking trucks are expensive enough as it is.

 

Exactly . The second local Toyota dealer I went to is where I ended up purchasing my Tundra. The sales guys at both dealers learned a lot from me….

 

Don't need to pinch it like you're masturbating, don't need to rub it with 4 fingers. a simple index finger tap on the top and it locks.

 

Sometimes I will just stare at the door handle longingly.. like for a minute or two. Then I slowly lower my head and softly blow on the sensor. Then I give it an Eskimo kiss.. you know, with my nose. It unlocks immediately.

 

It feels so good when I go to unlock it and gently slip my hand in the opening. I don't really touch it to unlock it. It is more like a gentle caress as I slip my fingers in......
