Hey all, don't just drain and replace what came out if it is less than 3.5 qts!

I finally got to a drain/fill of the trans and found that only 2.5qts drained out... So I have been driving and towing for at minimum 20k miles a 1qt or more low... I filled with 4qt and drained 1/2qt at temp.

There are so many videos and posts complaining that it is a "complicated" procedure... I just dangled my OBD tool out the door and watched the PID as the temp rose. But the paperclip and shifter method is just as simple and you have plenty of time to get from the cab to under the truck.

I'll be doing two more drain and fills over the next 6 weeks. We will see how much comes out next time.

    Happy New Year everyone!

    Extra info:

The truck has a note about a transmission service at 65k miles, but no further detail. It currently is sitting at 141k. So, more than likely it has been low for about 80k... Not great!

Thankfully, the fluid color was not that bad! I also have not been having issues at all being low on fluid.
