I have the og kettle type, I have heard about the bottle type. But my mom also makes me a sprinkle concoction of salt and xanthun maybe? It helps dry you out but has a weird taste.

That's some old school witchery right there. We have an older model as well, not the bottle. Either way, they clear you out for sure.

haha. Charging crystals is my wife's favorite past time. And I know all too well about crazy hippie moms. As crazy as mine was I sure do miss her though. She would've been 77 on the 15th.

I’m glad she’s still around to pass down some crazy and compassion to my kids. She was doing grey water harvesting before it was cool, like the late 70s. She’s pretty much had a grey water tomato garden since then every year. In the summer for vacations she would make the house sitter run empty washing machine loads a few times a week to keep on top of it

Totally agree. After living in Japan for 5 years I became a shashimi/sushi purist prude. Both need to be made with the absolute freshest ingredients preferably caught that morning with the exception of bluefin used as shashimi of course. I can rarely find what passes for decent sushi here in Colorado. Locals will rave about sushi that simply isn't appealing to me at all.

I'd bet tacos that rescam AI is eventually going to meet the scammer's AI. Even though their families have long harbored a feud, they'll realize they were meant for each other. After some creepy Peeping Tom shit and a couple sword fights, they'll kill themselves in the throes of teenage lust. Maybe I made that last part up.

The shop I get it from is making it fresh. It never sits in the cooler more than a couple of hours, which is about the same as a conveyor belt joint. It's cut pretty thin; but for ~$20 it's fine. I go to the liquor store looking for Blanton's or Col. Taylor, but when all I find is Old Forrester or Bibb & Tucker, I'm still pretty happy.

Those kids are sitting on a 1967 or 1968 Cougar. My sister had a '68 that I snuck out and drove quite a few times before I had my license. I loved that thing.

The big thing for me is where is it sourced from and when was it caught. Denver has no coast so everything is either preferably flown in fresh overnight or thawed. Thawed sucks.

North Texas isn't any different. It's probably coming from the Pacific via PNW, so it might be farther to me than you. I'm gonna call bullshit on anyone trying to sell me sushi that's not at a premium price and saying it's not thawed.

we used to do this exact same thing, lol. We’d hide the beer in camping equipment and my friend’s mom would drive us to the lake.

That’s pretty cool. I would love to go to Japan someday. When we lived in Atlanta years ago, that was the freshest sushi we ever had. The supply chain there was pretty good. After that, everything else has never measured up. There is one place around here that’s OK, Jaws Sushi, but still it’s all mediocre and not inexpensive.

I love this. This has me thinking, now that my parents have passed, maybe it’s not too late to get adopted. Find a hippy mom that needs help with chores and would recharge my aura, make me baked ziti.

The best supply chain is when the sushi "chef" hits the fish market every morning and hand selects what he's going to need that day. This is the way.

The freshest sashimi I ever had:

Grocery store sushi is just that...from a grocery store. I keep a separate scale for it compared to a sushi restaurant. What I ate yesterday was probably the best I've ever had; could tell it had only been made a few hours ago. I agree the quality isn't great, but I've had worse at sushi restaurants...

nice eye considering you can't see the grill, it's a 68. It was my buddies car. All my friends in high school had some nice classics. Me, I had a skateboard and some nice friends.

Every Labor Day in HS we'd drive up to lake Timnath and party like rock stars. No camping gear but beer solves all those problems when your 17.

I was about the same. MY car was a 1977 Ford LTD. I've never recovered from my nerd sister getting a Cougar and me getting a tired sedan. But I'd meet friends at Crawford Park in Cedar Hill, pass around a joint or a couple of beers, and throw frisbees for hours.

    Nice pic.
