Anybody had luck swapping a 2.5 gen db cover to a 3rd gen tundra? Diamondback advised that it wont work, just wondering if anyone actually had experience in trying it, thanks fellas

    Lots of stuff!
Don't be so sure that they wont fit.

I took my DB SE off my 22 Limited TRD OR and was worried that I would end up with a $3000 paperweight. I had the measurements off Diamondbacks website and it looked like the cover was too big for the Rams and too small for the GMs.

I put mine on my Silverado 3500! :)

When I went to test fit the cover, it fit. All the way around I get a good seal and the tailgate closes into the cover rear seal perfectly. Better than it did on the Tundra.

DB does make the covers on the wider side but the wide bed rails on the newer trucks makes swapping possible.

Try the Gen 2.5 cover and see for yourself. It is pretty easy to test it for size.

It will not fit. The beds are shaped different.

This could be the case. The Gen 2.5 is 2.25" wider at the cab and is 1.25" shorter overall. Also the 2.5 is 1/2" wider at the tailgate.

Depending on how the DB sits on the bed rails, this could work but the width on the Gen 3 at the cab is the biggest difference and would be the biggest hurdle. I noticed that my 3 covers have all been a bit larger to sit near the outside of the bed rails so the 70.75" width could push the front section off the Gen 3 rails or at least have it sit outboard which would be weird.

The dimensions from Diamondback look like this:
    ---------------------Gen 2.5-----------------Gen 3
    Overall Length--------68.5"-----------------69.75"
    Width at Cab----------70.75"----------------68.5"
    Width at Tail ----------68.5"-----------------68"

I just did it. it seems to work fine. I ordered a new weatherstrip and currently debating if I should install the little plastic squares under the tailgate covers. but the size works fine and it covers the bed just about the same. the dimensions are almost perfect. will not be replacing with a new diamondback
