I have turned up the heat control to HI and the fan speed to the highest level with the direction control on the Dash Heat. It just barely blows out at a low speed. If I switch to Defrost it still does not seem to have enough air flow to defrost the window when it is cold. if I lived in the North with temperatures in the teens and snowing, I think it would be impossible to keep the windshield from freezing while driving. Anyone else have this problem, or does anyone have a solution as to whether my settin is not correct. I have had vehicles when set to High and air coming from dash or Defrost mode it would blow you out of the vehicle with hot air....

I keep mine on auto at 70 degrees and rarely ever touch it. No problems keeping the truck warm in cold temperatures. It actually heats up more quickly than my 2018 did.

It doesn’t get super cold in Tennessee but we did have a cold front recently and I noticed how weak the airflow was when the heat was on high. I was never one for hot air blasting me in the face so i usually have it on my feet or defroster/feet and just roll with it. But the airflow is definitely lacking. I have not found a solution for it either.

Perhaps you have the back seat blower going and it's drawing from the main? There's a button on the dash that will turn off the center console in the rear.

It's the last button on passenger side before the seat cooler button, followed by the heated seat button. Picture of truck with arrow in front cab only.

This must be on late model 2024 and 2025. My early model 24 does not have this switch

I have a 10/23 build 2024 and my truck has the button to shut the rear vents off. Maybe a hybrid thing? Not sure. I’ve had it off when no one is in the back and don’t notice much of a difference.

I was told by my dealer “this is by design and it is intentional”. I’ve seen so many people post about it that I’m starting to think either it’s true, or there’s a major flaw here that nobody has seemed to find a remedy for it.

I’ve seen people say to check your cabin air filter, but my truck has done this since I drive it off the lot. Barely any flow to the top vents on heat, but will crank AC all day long.

I have had the same problem. And each time was a new cabin air filter had to be replaced at only 7,000 miles of driving. For whatever reason, it brings in a ton of debris. Also, I notice good aftermarket filters will restrict the blower motor because it filters too much. Buy the Toyota one on your dealers website. It makes a world of difference.

Well, SM Tundra is correct; the switch (called S-FLOW” switch in the manual) is present only on the Hybrid models:

    From 2024 Tundra Hybrid manual:

Interesting that it’s different by hybrid vs non hybrid.

Just hopped in the wife’s ‘21 GX and it behaves the exact same way when on auto. Blows to feet by default and nothing comes out of the top vents. However, it does blow hard when auto is turned off and is set to blow out of the top.

I’m going to the dealer to have a faulty speaker replaced next week and am going to have them look into the blend door situation. I had that issue on a 2001 grand Cherokee. Really hope it’s not the issue because that requires the dash to be pulled.

Well, looks like they were able to remedy the heat issue. They also replaced a door speaker and tightened the passenger side. Drivers speaker sounded like a buzz saw going down the road. Passenger side was just rattling in general. Still have rattles from the doors with heavy bass, but oh well.

Run it in Auto mode. I turn mine on Auto, get it to the temp I want ( summer and winter), then kick it off Auto otherwise all you hear is the fam blowing.

I have heard a few dealers have done this and it worked, but you are like the 2nd or 3rd person I have read about it. My dealership said it was operating as designed which is the normal excuse most have gotten.

How much better is the heat airflow out of the top vents now? Pretty noticeable?

I’d say it’s noticeable, but not substantial. It still isn’t blowing crazy hard by any means. I can feel more air coming out (I think??).

I’ll have a better gauge when it frosts again and I test the defrost. Took me almost 15 mins to defrost today.

I actuallly believe that this is a VERY POOR Design flaw and Toyota will not admit to the problem. If I lived in the upper part of the US where cold temperatures and snow are prevelant, I would be filing a complaint with the Attorney General and Public safety commission for a recall to remedy this. I do believe that it would be impossible to drive this vehicle while snowing and cold temperatures. This would be unsafe as you would be unable to keep the windshiels from freezing. The airflow is minimal at best..... Something is definitely wrong.....

Seems like I am not the only one with this problem. I recently went for service and the Service Advisor and myself went on the lot to a Brand new TRD Pro and the air flow was the same on a brand new one. Many others also complain of the minimum air flow when on heat mode.... Just Saying!

Mine blows like crazy out of the rear vents when set on dash. Doesn't present any problem for defrosting or anything that I've noticed so far.
BTW, hitting the fresh air doesn't change any of the air blowing from dash or rear vents.
