14 platinum cm with the dreaded jbl that keeps rebooting every 15 to 30 seconds. I have the current update on a flash drive, but the system will not stay on long enough to even get to the screen to start the update. Previous to today it would only reboot once or twice a drive. Wish I would have updated it then. But now it has become impossible. even pulled the fuse for a few hoping a disconnect and reconnect from power might change things. Any advise. changing the unit is not an option for me at this time.

The entune radios have a hidden service menu where you can do a full factory reset. However I think you can also screw up the radio if hit the wrong options, so do it at your own risk. I did it once when I retrofitted a 2021 radio into my 2014 that was glitching frequently and it fixed my issues. I did the following steps.

    1) Turn on ignition, but don't start the car.
    2) Press and hold the APPS button on the radio while performing step 3 below.
    3) Cycle the head lights 3 times (aka turn them on and off 3 times). This should activate a hidden service screen on the display, now you can release the APPS button.
    4) Press and hold the "INIT" button on the display until a dialog box appears with the text "Personalized data is initialized. OK? [YES] [NO]"
    5) Select YES, and your radio returns to the factory settings.
    6) Turn off the vehicle. Wait 30 seconds and turn back on.

Tried this earlier with the truck running to no avail. So I just went out and tried again with the ignition on and motor not running and got the same result. The service screen never appeared. I tried it while it was booting and tried after it had booted. And the same thing would happen. Within a few seconds if it even let me get that far it just reboots again.

Have you tried it with nothing in the usb port, as well as with no devices nearby that will connect to the radio via bluetooth?

Just gave that a try. And no luck. Tried it while it is booting and after it has booted. I read something in a Tacoma forum about putting it in reverse to activate the screen for the reverse camera for a period of time causing the screen to stay on longer before rebooting. Going to give that a try next. Seriously though I do really appreciate the advice. I am down to try anything at this point.

Inb4 the replace the head unit comments roll in that you'd even have the audacity to try and fix the head unit instead of replacing it altogether:

Only other thought I have is to try disconnecting the battery, check for loose connections, and making sure the power button/knob isn’t stuck and pushed in.

So i finally got some time to mess with it and took your advise and disconnected the battery for about ten minutes and it WORKED! Thanks so much BlueTSS. I probably should have tried this way earlier but I assumed that pulling the fuse would give the same result. I was wrong! Hooked it back up and started it two times ( because tundra stuff) glad i read about that (in here) ahead of time or i would have had a moment of stress when it cranked and died for the first start. The head unit came on and stayed on long enough for me to give it the most current update and has worked fine ever since.
