I think that's pretty impressive, for both. My ADHD tells me it's time to share a story, as it seems appropriate and I was really excited about the result. Whether it's a worthwhile read or not, IDK, but here it is anyway:

I wanted to see how efficiently I could drive my truck. It's hard to keep my foot out of the gas pedal (supercharged + small pulley). It overtakes traffic with ease and plows through a headwind at 85 mph without breaking a sweat, which of course is not great for fuel economy.

However, I exercised some self control...

I recently drove from SLC to a gas station west of Laramie, without stopping. 403 miles and another 8 miles from other travel - so 411. I have a 38 gal tank and the gas light didn't come on until a mile from the gas station.

I was hauling my new dirt bike, 300lbs of pavers (I keep them in the bed for winter driving), a 37" spare, floor jack, 2x 5gal cans of gas, plus tools and a cab full of other crap (I had been on a 10 day business trip). I never got above 75mph, and avoided accelerating to the point of downshifting, at all times. I would slow down to 65-70 on hill climbs, while still maintaining 6th gear.

I managed 14mpgs! Keep in mind, my truck is on 37's (geared to 5.29), with heavy bumpers, roof rack, and lift. With the way I normally drive, that route yields between 10-11 mpgs.

Super cool. I actually hadn't planned on coaching but out of nowhere my daughter came home from school and said, "I joined the HS MTB team" I was pretty shocked and excited considering she said she hated riding bikes 3 years earlier and wanted to skateboard instead.

Is there any possibility that fridge on wheels could have driven up to the curb on auto-pilot? I'm wondering if the guy wasn't shot by someone else somewhere else and used as a diversion. I know it's a stretch - just wondering.

 

That's awesome! We got our daughter on my bike on a shotgun seat at like 16 months, so it'd be sweet to coach her in HS if she has any interest then. She's stepping up to her strider as of late, which she is loving so far
