Yes! After waiting two years to avoid 'first model year issues', hours of research, test driving Fords/GMs/Tundras, and becoming a firm believer that the Tundra 'engine failures were less than .5%', on May 24, 2024 I purchased a 4/24 build date 2024 Limited!

One week later, 5/31/24, the NHTSA recall dropped with a documented failure rate of .81%. :-|

Did Toyota dupe me & many others? After 7 months of ownership, would I do it again? Has my engine blown? What follows will be an honest albeit occasionally sarcastic ongoing review. The first entry in The Dunce Log is my high-level 7 Month/7000 mile post-hunting season snap review.

    Snap Review:

There are pros and there are cons, but generally speaking, the truck has been enjoyable. It has been solid even after some fairly rough treatment. It was an easy transition from my 2012 Tundra. The only time I've missed the 2012 was when I wanted to blast up grown-in tote roads and didn’t want to pinstripe Charlotte just yet.

    Pro's:

    • Ride quality
    • Super smooth transmission
    • Great power/acceleration when on skinny pedal
    • Quite interior
    • The Tech- 14' Head Unit
    • Heated seats/Wheel

    Con's:

    • No rear bumper to step on to get in bed (my worst peeve)
    • It sounds like a V-6 from 0-20mph
    • The Tech- Nannies telling me what I can't do & meh
    • The hood is giant
    • 20" Wheels on a TRD
    • Turning radius

    Grade:

    • B+

I welcome your questions, feedback, thoughts, even if they are sarcastic. :-D Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

*just finished a 3 hour drive with moderate snow, it handled great. The Nannie’s telling me to clean off sensors, annoying!

I love my 24 Tundra, my only gripes, too many nannies, but WAY better than wife's Lexus! Just let me move my own truck with door open!
Floppy hood on interstate bothers me, it's constantly fluttering, too thin & needs reinforcement. My two biggest gripes. I do love my truck though.

You obviously haven't cracked your seat panel yet.

A lot of the Nannie’s can be canceled. Some not. Back up one is irritating but what bozo can’t back up with his mirrors. Shut that LTA shit off before a long drive ( it resets after every start up )

I have a 22 and have had 1% of the problems others do so just enjoy it and don’t get caught up with the noise that never ever has a creditable link supporting the noise.

I didn’t notice the hood but I’m sure I will now… gee thanks. lol. Actually, I’d probably never notice half the complaints but once mentioned I tend to focus.

No, I don’t even have the cracked seat panel! In fact, at 7226 miles, the only issue I have is the auto start-stop hasn’t worked since the first week. I didn’t report it at the 5k service since I like it. But probably should have fixed.
By comparison, my 2012 rear brake’s needed replacement at the 5k service and they couldn’t get the wheels off it! I was going in the woods for a week so disconcerting if I got a flat.
So by comparison, this truck has had fewer issues.

Oh yeah, I’ve changed everything I could with Carista. It’s the other dumb things. But as you and @Raven67 mention, it’s been prett nice.

Why do I need park assistance when I’m driving for three hours?

The OEM bolt on bumper step will solve one of your cons.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your truck!

What is in a name- Charlotte

I don’t normally name vehicles but have in the past. In this case I was changing the oil and thought, it was sexy but the spoiler dressed it up but clumsy and Charlotte came to mind and stuck.
About a week later it occurred to me, she also has many webs, like Charlotte. Hopefully she doesn’t turn into a Wilbur.

Very entertaining post, I'll be back for more.

Love my 24 Platinum Hybrid, will be 1 year of ownership in Feb, 11k miles. My first truck. Love the smooth power, the tech & leather, and hanging my arm out the window. Would buy again. Ready to sink some more money into it soon with a lift, new wheels, and new tires. Looking at a Readylift 3/1, Weld 20x9 +20 wheels, and 315/60R20 116S Nitto Recons (SL load range @ 57 lbs!).

Some small mini-gripes 1) remote start shut down when you open the door, 2) cheap, squeaky plastic center console, and 3) wireless Apple car play bugginess. Feeling lucky I've dodged most of the issues mentioned on this forum.

Do you mean this thing dangling here? See upcoming entry about mall crawling. Hint moron in GMC didn’t know how to back up.

I think they need that 14’ foot screen DRP mentions. I have higher expectations of a man driving a truck.
