IMG_3744.jpg Hot take of the day: the stock Yokohama tires that come on the SR5 are pretty much useless on a truck. I had to switch to 4WD because they were slipping in grass this past summer, and immediately knew I had to get rid of them.

Bought a set or Nokian snow tires for winter after excellent advice on this forum, and some Goodyear Wranglers for the remainder of the year. For reference, check out the tread difference between Goodyear Wranglers and the stock Yokohamas. Night and day difference. Our other truck has over 50k miles on a set of Wranglers and the treads looked better than the stock Yokohamas after only 5k miles.

Those stock Yokohamas are useless unless you stay on highway. I changed mine to Nitto 285/65r20 Recon Grappler at 500 miles.20241011_132348.jpg

    Those look great!

yeah I was hoping to keep the stock tires for Summer at least, but after a few attempts on dirt roads and fields, I came to the same conclusion. They’re fine on dry asphalt but that’s about it.

Those stock Yokohamas are useless even on the highway. It was around the 15k mark where they couldn't grip even on soft summer Florida asphalt, let alone when it was raining. Was very glad to move on from them.

    Another shining example of:
    All O.E. tires are crap.

The Falken "Mildpeak" 20's on my TRD O/R are slightly less crap than those highway Yokos, but not by much.
