Any rabid anti gunners in your life?

Do you have any anti gunners in your life that you have to be around so you just never bring it up or let them see it?

 

My mother in law, I swear to god she believes that all firearm owners are chomping at the bit to run up a clocktower. She thinks that me going with some buddies to government land and doing some target practice is so dangerous, like were doing it in a playground around the corner, not in the middle of nowhere where its allowed.

 

I don't hang out with anti-gunners. I do have friends that don't "do" guns. But they also all own guns of somekind. I'm not that into gun culture or whatever, but my rifle and 12ga get me food. My handgun sees pretty much zero action. I don't carry.

 

Thank goodness - No. Yet they probably Know to keep Silent about it - LOL.

 

My mom and stepdad think guns have legs and shoot themselves.

 

All the wackjobs in the Canadian federal government that think the ban of handgun ownership, long ridiculous list for confiscation
of sport semi-automatic long guns will protect all Canadians from gangs/drugs/human trafficking and women from abusive relationships.

 

Yeah, I'm happy Trudeau thinks that taking my .22 GSG rifle out of my gun safe in Alberta is going to stop hood rats from shooting each other with illegal handguns in Toronto......

 

Same. Ethical meat consuming (animal lived a happy life before got shot) and be ready for bad times.

Similar situation as KNABORES, except I don't hunt, and I live in a Blue state.
I have a few relatives that are anti-gun. Maybe not rabid, but not shy about telling you either.

 

I made a post but to answer your question on a personal note No. The only people I know are rational and know the difference
between us and them.

 

I have people in my life that are anti-gun. For the sake of trying not to get too political, I think the vast majority of people (at least ones that I know) who are anti-gun is based out of ignorance - and I don’t mean that in a negative way. They’re just not educated that most gun owners are very reasonable and responsible and believe the media spin on everything related to the topic. They’re scared and likely rightfully so.

My daughter belonged to an air rifle program for a decade and has NO interest in ever owning a firearm. The air rifle program taught her concentration, discipline, commitment, responsibility, and being part of a team - extremely valuable traits that she will take with her in her life and career.

Lately, I am of the mindset that we should have a federal registry of some sort and that purchasing a handgun should come with required training and national laws that are consistent for all…….

That said I own handguns, shotguns and a rifle. I do not hunt. I have them for target practice and for skeet / sporting clays shooting. I have a CCW for multiple states but don’t currently carry. I will save that for when the SHTF.

 

Not "Rabid" but I definitely have some anti-gun friends.
Some of them made a rational decision for themselves and some have apparently just bought into a narrative and drunk the kool-aid.
I don't try to change anyone's mind, but I like when the subject comes up and they're shocked to find out that I have what they consider to be an arsenal, even the dreaded evil black AR-15 that they think only mass murderers possess.
They're shocked because they've known me for years and consider me a calm rational person and not what they think of as a "gun nut".

 

You mean that AR15 hasn't randomly walked out of your house by itself and blown the lungs out of people/things?!?!?

 

Because you are a good human being and a responsible owner of firearms….but like it or not, there may come a time when one of those friends or family members stops being a friend because of this one issue. It is such a polarizing topic based on years of mis- and disinformation to push agendas.

 

How about for speech?

 

None that are vocal about it. I’m pretty sure I’ve converted all the non-gun people in my life to gun owners.

To hear some tell it:
AR15's don't walk. They RUN, all the while spraying full auto fire in every direction, all without any human interaction. If you're not hit with the all-powerful round that is the .223/5.56, just the sight of the scary beasts might kill you.

I have no reason to care what anyone else thinks about the subject.

 

I have guns but don't feel the need to show them to everyone. The "anti" gunners I know don't need to know about it. Problem solved.

 

I live in MA, so, like everyone.

In truth, my whole family.(not including wife and kids) I'm the only one that lives in reality.

 

My mother in law falls in with the "I just want common sense blah blah blah" crowd.

once my 9 yr old son was being a goofball pretending her cane was a rifle and going "pew pew around us." The boy has shown no interest in guns. He's been around my stuff, handled a few things, is generally desensitized and doesn't care. He Is not excited by being around firearms. Whines he'd rather head home when we're out and I say I want to stop at a gun store to pick up ammo. But he just got to a stage where boys sometimes pointed at each other and went "pew pew" when they play.

Grandma gets a horrified look on her face when he does it probably thinking I've made him a gun nut or he's had too much exposure to my firearms. So to poke at her I go "Remember like I told you, Hold that thing tighter to the shoulder, touch your cheek. Close an eye."

Lol even the wife thought it was funny.

I live in Texas and only have one sister in law who isn’t a fan. Not necessarily anti but just not a fan. The rest of us have lots but they rarely leave the safe and only get pulled to hunt once or twice a year or if we go to the range. Guns are a personal thing and I’m not a fan of this gun culture mentality that’s developed in this country.

 

I'm in Alabama, where even those who vote for the anti-gun party have guns themselves. This does not include the transplants from outside the South, of course.

 

It hasn't "developed in this country." It was part of its founding.
