Hadn’t been under my truck in a while and hadn’t seen any oil spots.

Had the wife take it to get the oil changed yesterday and they told her we had a rear main seal leak.

When she got home we crawled under there any she says: “YUP, LOOKS LIKE YA GOT A LEAK THERE!” It’s leaking enough to be dripping on the floor.

Do I even want to deal with it at this point with all the other bs happening with these trucks?! My transmission has been fucky since I bought it. We were going to drive from CO to IA on Tuesday with it, despite my hesitation of if the motor decided to shit the bed on Christmas Eve, because that’s kind of how my entire weeks luck has been too.

Who’s had there RMS replaced and NOT have it start leaking within a week?

That’s been leaking a long time to not have oil spots where you park.

Me. Bought a press tool, was extra careful not to scratch any mating surfaces, RTFM, and it's all good.

I think I saw 2-3 rear main seal leaking posts on this forum within the past couple of years. Use the search feature

Well as you can see so far you're getting pretty useless comments, hopefully someone will mention something worthy

Happens from time to time in all mass engine production (all brands). Lip seal can get torn or folded under.

Both the freeze plugs and rear main seals are installed by machines, even they make mistakes occasionally.

Toyota dealer told me it was excess assembly lube. I don’t buy it for a second, that’s a lot of assembly lube.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
I'd tell those assholes that while they are in there cleaning up all the excess "Assembly Lube" to just go ahead and install a new rear main seal. Assholes.

Found an alternative solution. Sorry boys.

Quite honestly dont miss it. They blew it on many aspects of the 22+ for how much they increased the price tag. The only thing that was better was the mpgs with 37s compared to fords 7.3 gasser.
