I bought two of those 1st Generation Punch 75 new and ran them in my 1998 GMC step-side, with two 10" punch subs.

I then ran them and a Rockford Fosgate DSM amp in my 2005 Tundra DC..
This time with a removable custom sub box..
I sold them on eBay when they were around 27 years old..

I had a Punch 45 in highschool running 4 Kicker 8s in a custom box I built in a hatchback car. I still have a 90s era punch 75 under the seat in my 2000 Tundra running a 90s era Kicker Solobaric 8". Both still performing well.

Damn that's pretty awesome. My buddy had 2 15s in a box behind the seat of his Blazer. Pretty sure he blew them with 2 punch amps.

That pic just sent me down memory lane to my old truck.
Bought new: 1989 GMC, 2WD, short bed fleet side, 350/5 speed, 3.42 gear, locking diff.
ALL black, (vanity plate "STEALTH") dark tint, lowered, 255's on 15x8's. Aftermarket rear sway bar and Bilstein shocks.
Pretty typical "sport truck" back in the day, but damn that was a fine (and fun) truck.

And to keep it on topic:
Yep, I remember them and had a fair amount of the old Rockford stuff too.

Heck ya! My first setup was a Fosgate amp and four Fosgate 10's in the back of my bronco. I literally blew the box apart! Ok, it's cuz I had no idea how to build a box at the time and followed the advice of my buddy's brother (apparently he had no clue, either), but they blew it apart nonetheless :D

Those thumped for a few years until I replaced them four MTX 12's. Made blasting Enya through the high school parking lot a blast. hahah. Cracked the fiberglass top of the bronco with those. Decided I should prolly take it easy for a while if I wanted to have any hearing when I was older. So I had a few sets of ear muffs wrapped around the transfer case stick for whenever I felt like giving the neighborhood some second hand bass, as Mike Shinoda puts it.

I also installed lots of Fosgate gear for friends, as well as whatever we could get our hands on. One day, one of my buddy's ask me to install a little Fosgate Punch just like one you pictured; I knew he didn't buy it but he said he did some trading for it. A short while later, one of the girls in my class asked if I could figure what was wrong with her stereo cuz it had no bass. Turns out my ding dong buddy absconded with the amp from her car while riding in the back seat the week before! Doofus...

    Mmmm... old school Solobarics. Yum.

Thread drift, but I thought you'd find this interesting....

Funny thing, I bought that truck new in 1998 and had to trade it in on a 1990 Pathfinder when we had a kid.
The 4X4 Pathfinder was my last standard transmission vehicle..:(

Anyway, when I met my wife in 2006, her Dad had a 1998 Chevy step-side, the same color.
Looked just like the truck I had but Chevy instead of GMC and he had the bottom flares.
He made a custom engine, transmission, and exhaust for it.
He was a mechanic by trade, built and ran dragsters in the 1970s and early 80s.
    That fucker hauled ass...

He had a switch in the cab that would change the exhaust to straight out of the headers.

I never had one of these Punch amps, but I did have one of the era's other (in)famous amps, an Orion. We always used to call them fryin Orions, which mine did one day in a glorious way by spewing a huge cloud of smoke from under the seat of my 89 Toyota pickup so thick I couldn't see.

Absolutely, that's freakin' sick old school sport truck. Love it.

Since I drifted it, I'd thought I'd bring it back to audio again.
Currently collecting dust in the basement alongside some other vintage gear:
    Orion Cobalt.jpg
It dates to the early aughts, '02-04 ish, so not sure if it was "true" Orion or after they were bought out by DE when quality supposedly went way down.
All I know is it's a big, heavy beast that pounded whatever speakers I hooked up to it, sounded sweet and I never smoked it!:D

    Ahh, the good ol' days...

I still have many trophies and plaques from SPL competitions in the 90's. I ran MTX, PPI, and MB Quart. Still have some of the components.

The same thing that happened to most old school brands: Some turd bought the name, cheapened it up, ruined the reputation, and burned down the brand. Blaupunkt, anybody? Though, I think MTX didn't fall too hard. They still make the Jackhammer, IIRC.

Cadence, Cerwin Vega, Phoenix Gold....etc etc.

Man, I spent THOUSANDS on all this stuff back then! I had 6 twelves in a floor-to-roof ported wall behind the seats in an extended cab Dodge Dakota with three MTX 2300X amps (one on each pair).

Probably why I have tinnitus and hearing loss today!

Man reading through these posts is taking me on a stroll down memory lane lol. I knew a couple of "bad kids" that had a bona fide car audio store in their basement of stolen gear and remember seeing those little rockford amps along with a slew of subs like Orion, Diamond, MTX, JBL, and many more I'm forgetting. Never bought anything from them as I didn't want to catch a receiving stolen property charge lol. They were on probation most of the time and idk how their p.o. didn't put 2 and 2 together that all that stuff was stolen.

My first set up was a pair of Alpine Type R 12's in the back of a Grand Cherokee. I added a third sub, a JL12w3, and wired its amp to a "nuke" switch (apparently more correctly named a fighter pilot toggle switch) like this:
    upload_2024-12-31_12-49-25.png
Flip the switch and the 3rd sub/amp powered on for "mega-bass". Also had switches for leds in the trunk, a disco ball, and a fog machine. Used to pull up to drive throughs with the fog billowing out, bass bumpin, led's lit up, and the disco ball swinging and flashing to the music haha good times.

    hahaha! LOVE IT!

I used to pull the fiberglass top off of my bronco in the summer. We'd roll up to the drive-in, relocate the box of four 10's or four 12's (depending on which setup I had at the time) to the roof over the cab, drop the tailgate, and blast the movie for the whole lot. On more than one occasion, folks around me would turn off their radios, roll their windows down, and enjoy the music.
