Looking to add flares to my 2020, but…

… looks like some people are not happy with their aftermarket Bushwacker flares.

I haven’t seen anyone complain about the OEM factory Toyota flares…

… even though the factory flares are supposed to have been made by Bushwacker.

    So what’s the issue?

Are the factory flares really any better than Bushwacker aftermarket?

    Thanks!

My understanding is they are the same, I have the Bushwackers on my truck. I like them, although a bit of a pain to install around the mudflaps.

How long have you had them on the truck?

    Any issues so far?

I have had them on my truck for 6 years and both front ones cracked inside the fender, near the bottom.

You are incorrect, the ones I bought were designed to be used with the factory mud flaps. I wouldn't have bought them if it required removal of the flaps. That being said the openings molded into the flairs required some trimming with a razor blade knife.

I think it depends on the offset of the wheels. Some people put flares on when they don’t need them. It looks like the tires are stuffed way in the fender that it doesn’t look right. The sidewall of the tires should at least come flush with the fender flares. Just my opinion.

I had a set of bush wackers, returned them bc it required the mud flaps to be removed, I was able to source on Facebook marketplace locally. Glad I did bc the holes all lined up and reused mudflap. Getting a body shop willing to paint match, that’s another story.

Do it. Just get the smooth, OE hidden fasteners style, not the homemade looking exposed fastener pocket flair style. Unless you want to look lame, that is… :boink:

IIRC, OE flares are 1.25”; pocket flares are 1.5-2” depending on the brand and line. The OE don’t poke out as far as a pocket flares.

I bought a 2015 1794 a few months ago that had Pocket flares on it. I took them off but they've eaten into the paint. Had a professional try to wet sand them off but remnants of them remain. Dirty it's fine, clean you can see them. Trying to source some flares that line up with the same outline without the ugly rivets. Any ideas? I bought some extended smooth flares from eBay. However they didn't line up and had to eat $100 to return them
