Looking for just shocks to lift/level my TRD Off Road 4x4 2008 Gen 2 with OEM 20" wheels from a 2021 Platinum. Does anybody have this set up without anything else, can you post pics? I would prefer to not add shakles, spacers, UCAs or shims and hopefully no trimming or rubbing will this set-up work? I just like a level and want to get AT tires for going to the beach and logging roads. Also 6112 + 5100 or 5160s?

I have run 6112's a couple of times - one set had over 100k on them. I ran those at the lowest setting. I've also run them at the 3rd clip which is supposed to be around 1.9"; this keeps you from needing to add UCA's to correct the alignment. Mine was barely in spec but worked. Unfortunately, I beefed up the rear leaf pack to add in some rake so I don't have a pic of a stock rear suspension with the 6112's at 1.9". However, I have run both 5160's and 5100's with the 6112's - get the 5160's. The 5100's are fine but the 5160's are better tuned, IMO, for running down logging roads.

As for rubbing and trimming mudflaps - that has more to do with your wheel offset than anything else. Stock wheels with +60mm offset will clear just about anything 32-35" up to a 285 width; 295 can get a little close. Aftermarket wheels in the +27 range will clear most tires. +0 or negative offset will eat fenders and mud flaps and body mounts.

My first suspension upgrade was 5100s all around. I set the fronts at the middle setting and added a CB shim to each side. Total lift was about 2” - a little less than going with the 3rd setting and no shims.

Stock UCAs and no changes in the rear. Tires were 295/65x18 (33s) and +25 offset wheels. The only rubbing was on the front mud flap and once that was removed there were no issues.

Stock wheels are +60 offset so with this you might not need to remove the front mud flap.

2020 Platinum with a 5100 levelling kit and OEM rims with stock sized tires. This is the fourth vehicle I've had 5100s on, love them.

5100 are harsh with LT AT tires even on 18" wheels.
