For years I've used some kind of windshield cover on my 08 when it snowed, never had a problem. The other day it snowed and rained in my neck of the woods and I used a windshield cover on my 24 1794 LE. I went out and opened the passenger door to take the cover off that side of the windshield and found water intrusion on the floor mat. Needless to say I panicked and ran to the drivers side to find the same thing. Luckily the TuxMat floor mats caught the water and it didn't make it's way to the carpet. Before starting the truck I grabbed my tiny blower, removed the side dash panels and kick panels. There was a little water that settled onto the flat panels and I got rid of that. Blew out all the electrical connections and checked the fuse panel on the passenger side, no water to speak of.
Turns out the new cover I bought allowed water to leak into the cab. I'm assuming it's because the material that tucks into the doors is pretty thick, it's a 600D with a thick plastic backing. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DGV2DS8L?ie=UTF8
It's a shame because this thing is heavy duty and the coverage is excellent. So if you're thinking about using something like this test it out first with a garden hose.
