I used to ride Loveland pass more often back in the day. My friend from the front range had a four pack of Loveland passes so we went up and cruised around. Love the views from up there. Now a days if I'm resort riding I ride copper more than anything else. It's definitely the best mtn in summit as far as I'm concerned.

Miracle March delivered 15” (9 Friday night) of the goods at Woods Valley, NY. (Bout an hour or so from me) And since our season all but *ended* in the first week of March, only the diehards haven’t put their gear away for the season.
I think the most we waited in line was 3 chairs. Got 12mi of skiing in which is decent for a hill with only 500’ vertical.

    IMG_2024.jpg
Yesterday our local hill decided to surprise re-open after getting 8” Saturday. Perfect ending to a tough season for us.

Hit a tree off of Alpine and broke ten ribs on my left side. Got pneumonia a few days later and got the ambulance ride out of Summit and a short hospital stay at Good Sam.

Did 18 miles of downhill in 19 runs today.
    13,600 feet of elevation
Top speed of 38.8mph, even with the sticky snow.
Longest run was 1.72 miles, shortest was 0.7 miles
Took it in for a wax job at lunch and the one guy working was geeking out on my old school board
    Overall not a bad day
One month left in the season - hoping to get up two more times

We went back to Copper last weekend. It was eight weeks, but x-rays looked good and my lungs were clear. Got clearance from my doctor, so we went up for the last runs of the season.

    May 2nd
36” of new snow in the past 4 days
It was more like riding an early February day.
Top of “The Mile” was pretty socked in before lunch, but the snow was pretty damn good.
    Hit a new top speed.
Things cleared up after lunch a bit and we had one absolutely amazing run just out of bounds on a bunch of untouched snow. Had to do a little work to get our asses back onto trail, but so worth it.

Another 2ft in the past two days, and the weather is about to get crazy warm through the weekend. Needed to get one more day in before my daughter takes off for a two week trip out of country with my wife. Probably will be my last time up for the season as well.

Snow was really good, and we found some great lines. But the wind was pretty relentless today and the ice pellets that it was blowing were rough when you got up high. The worst part was having the Jeff Flood lift break down for about 30 minutes while we were half way to the top…

Still better than a day at the office, and we still had a great time. I love seeing it looking like February when the calendar says it’s May.

Need bibs. Also some advise on goggles/lenses for bad vis. When vis gets flat, I can't see shit, then I get pissed, then I end up chillin at the truck the rest of the day. I know, I know, suck it up and ride when vis is flat. It makes you a significantly better rider. But it's just not fun for me. I'm out there to chill, not to concentrate real hard. I do that at my job.

I was looking at possibly the Anon M4 with Toric lenses. I have OOOOOLLLLDDDD Anons with cylindrical already. unfortunately, they don't make lenses for my goggles anymore. Hence the shopping.

@GravityGear Smith Squad mag (for magnetic detachable lenses). Chromapop technology whatever that means. Polarized and very high contrast imo. Flat light can be brutal for just about every lens shade - even clear. I have black, a purple blue mirror (that is amber-ish/yellow for low light) and clear for night time. Keeps me covered and never fog. I find that I often just wear the black/dark lens for flat light because the contrast is so strong on these. But sometimes I will switch

Bibs are another animal. Depends on your riding. Are you hiking / split / skinning up? Resort only? Combo? Ton's of options. I've got a pair of discontinued (of course) billabong (pants) that I love. Warm, dry, vented/breathable when I need it. Hopefully won't have to replace them anytime soon..

i have Smith with chromopop only because they seemed like a good value for the lens quality. They seem ok in flat light but you are correct, everything sucks in flat light.

bibs are the only way to go!

I'm a resort guy at this point in life. Riding for me is no longer something I do to try to flex on people. In my younger years, yeah. I pushed myself real hard and fucked myself up real bad. I said I'd deal with it later. It's later. I have some old Burton Shawn White pants that are STILL going strong, just wanted the additional comfort of no/loose waistband. My belt is typically cinched pretty tight.

I'll have a look at the Smiths. I just like the Anon MFI mask interface for no gaps, but I have so many masks that I'm happy with already.

I have ambers now, still can't see. Worse than not wearing goggles.

Yeah I agree that sometimes Amber is worse. I typically stick to the dark or clear lenses. Mostly a resort guy here too. Agreed on my hero days being behind me. Will still get adventurous a little and "Hillbilly Uphill" (Snowshoes up, ride down rather than a proper skin/splitboard setup). But that's once a season or less, and waaaay off-piste / off resort and is probably rather stupid at this point. I may look into some bibs also, getting room in the waistband now involves a few hundred more Km on the rower than normal.

@GravityGear I'll second the yellow lenses. Just like amber lenses for lights, they add a bit more contrast. I've been using smith's for years and like their chromapop yellow storm lenses. I've heard great things about Oakley prizm. I haven't tried them yet, but some shop friends have sworn by them.

Looked more into Glade. Seems like a very good option. I'd like to try the photochromatic lenses.

Sucks there's no fathom+ low bridge. I don't have THAT low of a bridge, but I like the seal more. Not a necessity though.

It's been a slow start for me this year. Today was day one. 7 runs at beaver creek. VIP tent for the World Cup race. Great day to start the season.
