Legit. You coming further north at all? You're probably only like 250 miles from our one and only Bucee's.

During my single days, I took my bikes and Jeep, and moved to Moab. I was putting myself through school doing handyman work, but made sure to take some pics along the way.

I believe it is... I surfed there yesterday. About 12 minutes from home.

Twice a year the sunset will align perfectly with the pier, they call it "Scrippshenge" and there will be a gaggle of photogs there shooting it.

Here's some of my favorites. My mom is a photography teacher, and she'd be telling me that "these aren't your best compositions" or that "you could fix that in lightroom" right now. I don't care much for that stuff- these photos tell a story, which is all I need them to do.

My thoughts exactly. I'm a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) photographer, my intent is to record what I'm seeing, not to compose a piece of artwork. That's why I have no use for PhotoShop or any other photo enhancement program.

The only thing I will do is add light to severly under-exposed shots to bring out the details a bit. This happened when I took several photos inside an old barn and did not want to use flash, very dark inside.

Me too. There's definitely a time and a place for absolutely perfect photos created with expensive setups and photo editing. Definitely.

But an edited photo is never as satisfying to me as an unedited, imperfect photo that captures an experience or feeling exactly how I want. I have dozens and dozens of photos that are over/underexposed or blurry, but I still love them so much as they capture a specific feeling or moment. Like these:

Blurry. But captures the dog's excitement to sit on the pier and watch fish.
    50097932.jpg

Underexposed. You can't see any details inside the house- but that shifts all focus to the dog. (and the dirty glass)
