Have a bed rug that has been perfect until winter. Going through the car wash, spray gets on the folded part, freezing it up. When you drop the tailgate, the velcro releases with the tail portion sliding down.

I tried spraying it, soaking it with silicone during recent warm dry spell - made no difference.

Seems obvious to cut the fold out, curious if there have been other solutions.

I haven't encountered this yet but sure I will since I don't have drains set up for my tonneau cover yet. I've been thinking about it with mine also. My fold tucks down into the gap between the bed and tailgate when closed, when I first installed it the flap would stick up and I guess from pushing it down all the time it now sits in the gap creating an area for water to settle in. My thought is to use a skinny pool noodle or something similar to keep the fold pushed up so it doesn't go in the gap and stick to itself when it freezes.
