Loving the Tundra so far. 5k miles into my July’24 build.

however I’ve never had a vehicle build up such a smell in the heating and air in such a short period of time. My Tacoma wasn’t much better but it took far longer than 3 months to need a refresh. However I mostly ran outside air vs recirc and I didn’t have the automatic climate control. At this point I know I’ll have to buy the kit with the foam for the condenser and spray for the cowls. I’m just disappointed it needs to be done so quickly.

any other tips I’m missing? I already replaced the OEM filter with a good charcoal one this week but that made no difference.

What does it smell like, is it mildew? Are the carpets wet?
I'd just bring it in for service.

I had it happen in less than 5k. I turned the heat on full blast and rolled the windows down. Let it run for around 15 minutes. Pretty much took it away

    worth a shot.

There’s no water in the cab. Carpet is dry. Smells like standard musky bacteria in the air ducts

yep. Ordered. I can’t stand the strong smell of this stuff either, but it is what it is. Does the job

How long is that stuff good for? (how much is it?)

Cant we just fire up the ac, open it on fresh air and spray in some Lysol?

yeah, the smell was bad for a few days but it was better than the moldy stench. The cone end popped off from the drain line when it was spraying foam in...be careful. I just shoved it in again and held on to it

Running the HVAC on recirc will cause this to happen every time. Need to run the recirc on fresh air. Wonder if there are some settings to change in the infotainment system settings?

Yeah, I used the same kit on my Tacoma 2x annually. They used to sell a Subaru version that didn't smell so bad, but haven't been able to find it for a few years.

Agreed. I always ran outside air, but didn't have auto climate. When my climate conditions change (i.e. if it goes from heat to A/C, it resets the air in my truck) I just don't pay as close attention. May indeed just quit using auto and just do it the old way and keep control over the air flow

Well that sucks. What's the point of having auto HVAC if it only uses recirculating air? In my truck, going to recirc takes it out of auto.
