Wife forced me to go to Walmart with her and I got hungry. I saw a bag of Snoop Dog Nocho Nacho Cheddar BBQ Chips for 75 cents and thought to myself "Fo Shizzle!"



I opened the bag as we left the parking lot and was overwhelmed by the lack of chips in the bag and what could only be described as a turpentine smell wafting from it.



I tried a tiny shard of a chip and spit it out. I literally think Snoop filled the bag with paint chips. Not the good lead ones either.

Fortunately my wife (while scolding me for eating something that smelled like paint) immediately pulled into the nearest gas station and let me buy a Kolache so at least the story has a happy ending.





AND I JUST NOTICED THE BEST BY DATE SAYS NOVEMBER 16, 2023 FUCKING WALMART.

Wait.... A Texan who used the term Kolache correctly? I am shook right now.... I immediately thought you were talking about a pig in the blanket that they always call Kolache's...

 

Welp, today's productivity went to absolute shit.... Guess I will be staying up late again tonight... No complaints!

 

I'm in Czechland part of Texas. They loves their kolaches.

 

The only time I didnt roll my eyes was at the Czech stop. I actually miss that place, especially their Jalapeno one.

I used to go there all of the time but I bought a breakfast taco from them once and the sausage was raw so it kinda ruined me for them. I figured the kolache was safe...

Their tagline of "We Gotcha Kolache!" drives me nuts. Everybody pronounces it "Ko-la-chee". Seems like "We Got Yee Kolache!" would lean into their old timey roots and at least rhyme. Unless they pronounce it "Ko-la-cha" in which case they need to get the employees to say it right. This is why I try not to get out.

 

I will have to check that place out when I go back through next year. I will be in Mobile, AL in March so I may shoot over there at some point during that work stent.

 

Damn, that's quite the "shot"! Give me a heads up if you have time to meet up.

Will do! They are talking about me being up there for over a month, so if thats the case I will start looking at trips back to DFW to see friends and get out of the spring break area on the weekends.

But if not, I will be going through there when I go to SD in the fall for sure.

Ostensibly it's the same dough, but the mistakenly named version is just with meat instead of sweet filling. Other things that some idiots probably believe:

• Pizzas and apple pies are the same
• Football and Soccer are the same
• boys and girls are the same
• Epstein killed himself

PS, I lived there for 13 years so its not just the typically brotherly poking fun from Florida.

 

All good - - we measure distance in minutes, call random people of any gender 'dude' or 'you guys', and most of us still call any brand of soda 'Coke'; so yeah, I get why you'd think it was unusual...

Edit - - any brand of soda except Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper is Dr. Pepper.

 

All that is true over here as well. It is annoyingly comical how much our states have in common. Except the DP thing. People here dont get it and I just warn them to let it lie or be ready.

I was always annoyed hearing about TX growing up. Then went to Houston and swore I would never go back. then I moved to DFW and lived 1/3 of my life there lol.

It was a great state and Billy Bob's was a lot of fun. But I like my home just a little bit more.

In my last 30 years, I have frequently stopped by there while at work.
On my runs going to Waco, Temple/Belton, Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio.
Earlier years I'd park my set of doubles on the side of the building.
Later years I'd park in the Bush's Chicken lot since they were closed at 4 AM.
I used to buy a dozen and give it to dispatch, if I ate that much bread the carbs would put me to sleep while driving.
They were always surprised and appreciative...
