    Hi all,

I recently acquired a 2006 Tundra (4.7 AC) and am having a difficult time getting the tach needle to indicate correctly. When idling at temperature, the tach needle indicates roughly zero rpm as shown in the first image, and when turning off the engine the tach needle completely falls off as shown in the second image. When driving, the needle fluctuates proportionally to driving conditions, which makes me think the tachometer itself is operating correctly and that the indications are just off by a consistent amount of rpms.

I took off the instrument cluster cover and adjusted the needle by hand to the appropriate indications both with the ignition on and off, and whatever I seem to do the needle always falls off and returns to the conditions pictured below.

If anyone has encountered this issue before, or has any ideas/suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

I would be very careful doing this as it's easy to leave finger-prints on the black face.

I'm not sure how this issue occurred but you could remove the needle and place it back where it belongs. This is a very delicate process that I personally haven't ever gotten into but I do watch a YouTube channel from time to time that deals with rebuilding instrument clusters. (YouTube channel LINK).

Cluster issues on these trucks are very uncommon so I'm not sure you'll get great input on this.
