I’ve seen a lot of cool upgrades members have done. Has anyone ever just installed an amp? Is it possible?

You need a dsp. You cant just replace the jbl amp with another amp. It wont work.

Is the investment worth it I wonder? It sure seems like most guys are replacing the head unit all together.

For the full effect. Go all aftermarket. It’s worth it, imo. You get better, clearer, louder, more bass. Overall, much better than the factory jbl. but, if you’re ok with the jbl system as it, there’s no reason to upgrade.

Check out Tech12volts / Taylor Audio. James Randy Taylor is the man when it comes to this.
He sells an 8 channel amp with DSP built in that connects to the factory JBL amp. You will need to run a power wire to the battery and ground wire. He supplies everything needed. I have his box and sub, but have not bought this amp yet. From what I have read, this amp makes a big difference.
