Radio won’t mute during phone call

So I got an iPhone 15 and hook it up my ‘17 Tundra. When making a call, the radio stayed on, “handset” mode is on and the radio won’t shut up or route the phone audio through the speakers. If I turn off handset mode it works like it should but it should be automatic. (Really don’t like futzing with a touch screen while driving)

I’ve told the truck to forget the phone and vice/versa. Re-pair and still the same.
Has anyone had this happen?

Phone software update is latest 18.1.1
My last 2 iPhones worked just fine, is this a phone setting or a truck setting problem?

 

I guess I’m the only “lucky” one to experience this!
Yay me.
It’s kind of a PITA to hunt down the “handset” mode button while driving, now I just hit the volume button to shut off the stereo manually then call/answer the phone.
Why it’s doing this I certainly don’t know.
