Question! I just bought a Tundra and got an 8y 100K coverage. The coverage is through Hendrick Autoguard and is titled "mechanical repair service contract"

Is this typical to have the extended coverage from 3rd parties or did my dealer pull a fast one?

    was it a Hendrick dealership?

It does appear to be a 3rd party insurance. If you are uncomfortable with it I would see about cancelling it and go with Toyota coverage. Will it be better? "I don't know" but I got mine through Toyota hopefully to lessen any problems if I ever need it. If you do change to Toyota look back through this thread as Prices very widely I got mine through Jerry Johnson as others on here have suggested and compared to the local toyota dealers around my area offering Toyota extended warranties it was a significant savings. Hope this helps.

Yes. $3k. I have a separate issue with the dealer where they did a bait and switch on an accessory on the vehicle. Which made me look at things closer.

I want to cancel the service contract, which I can cancel with in 60 days. My driver for looking into this was them misleading me on the other item. I simply don't trust them now and won't be taking the vehicle back to them for any service.

I want an extended service contract on the truck just because of the earlier 3rd gen issues. I believe Toyota has fixed the engine problem but...just in case.

I paid less than half that from Jerry for a the same length and coverage.

    Toyota platinum with zero deductible.

    Toyota dealerships will honor it.

Cancel that contract and call Jerry.

DarthBrooks. If you do try to go through Jerry Johnson you can try his cell phone or e-mail . I left 3 voice mails with him and didn't hear back but finally sent him and e-mail and he got back to me in like 20 min. It was very late in the day and I suspect he called me from his house. Just keep at it. As others have said he seems like a good stand-up guy. take care. :)

Yes, both are Factory Toyota Warranties. They look to be both priced the same from the posts that have included pricing.
I bought a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty from Troy and requested a quote through this website

Perhaps a dumb question but I bought my Tundra 2 weeks ago. Are people waiting till the 3/36 runs out to grab the extended? Buying now knowing the price may go up? If I can wait a bit while I level, add tires, tint, etc. then I will, but if there’s a reason to pick it up asap, I can swing that too.

That's totally up to you. As long as you get it BEFORE the factory warranty expires, you are OK. As far as price, no one knows if it will go up or not.
I will say, I used Jerry & his price was less than half of what my dealer was wanting to charge. Good luck & enjoy your truck!

Are there any Toyota Factory options for Certified Used vehicles, or am I stuck with third party warranties?

toyota used car vsa are only offered during the sale of the used vehicle, i dont think you can buy them after the fact. you would have to call toyota financial to get a real answer.

I am new here but likely buying a 2020 Tundra. All of the contacts here are only able to sell if the factory warranty is intact. Is there anyone near the SE NC area that would be able to inspect/sell the Platinum warranty at a fair cost?

My 2023 Tundra Platinum now has 32,262 miles on it. I bought it in March of 2023 and I put on about 16,500 miles per year. I'm interested in purchasing a platinum factory warranty. I'm located in Pennsylvania.

Seeing that this thread has 86 pages I thought I would post this here while I look through this thread and see who to contact.

    Thanks in advance.

I bought a 7 year/125K warranty with my truck last week. Paid $1678 from the dealership. Not sure if it was a good deal, but a lot less than what they quoted me at first.

I used Troy Dietrich (tdietrich@toyotaofgreenfield.com) for an extended warranty. He had the same prices as Jerry and others shown in this string. Very good service and answered all my questions.

Anyone here from Canada that has purchased an extended warranty from Jerry, Troy or anyone else?

Any idea if you can purchase as a second hand owner via a private sale?

I will reach out to Jerry and Troy but figured I’d try and save their inboxes.

    Thanks!

from what I have read, extended warranty can be transferred once to another person. Which of course make the vehicle more valuable to private buyer. Dealers are excluded though. I assume this would be the same in Canada but can't speak on that.

Warrantys are pretty confusing. We were debating price back and forth at my dealership and they threw in a 5 year platinum. The guy told me it was 8, but on the paperwork it says 5.

I figured he lied and I wasn't too annoyed because i didn't pay. However, It crossed my mind that maybe in kicks in after the original warranty is up? wishful thinking i know.

They included nothing with the warranty but a panflit and it has almost no info so not even sure what it covers...

I may end up buying one with Jerry anyway....

Your truck came with a 5/60 powertrain warranty. So you just added 65k miles and 5 years to what you already had for $2000?

Not trying to criticize, I'm just looking for clarity.

If he got the platinum warranty, it's 0 deductible & covers bumper to bumper same as the 3/36. Not just powertrain. At that price, I'd say that's it.

toyota vsa's can really be confusing.

if its 5yr/60k then it only covers between year 4 & 5 and mileage from 36k to 60k

the oem factory warranty takes precedent from 3/36k and the vsa only kicks in after that but the duration is from the in-service date, not when you bought the vsa, nor does add to the oem factory warranty.

ie : if you have 36m/36k the vsa (example 60m/60k) does add to that to get 96m/96k, it only covers from the 36m/36k to 60m/60k miles

i really hope that explains it

easier way to figure our your vsa is to always subtract 36 months and 36k miles from the plan to get your true numbers.
