    I don't have a Tundra yet, but Im in the market.

    I'm one of those people that will research to the nth-degree before the wife makes me stop and pull the trigger "just buy it already!" Hense the reason I'm here to search for answers and ask questions if I cant find what I'm looking for.

    Currently I have a 2001 Silverado 2500 6.6L Duramax that I strictly use for hauling. I plan to replace this with a Tundra Hybrid Platinum or a new Silverado 1500 3.0L Duramax. The new truck will be my daily driver, I put on 100mi a day for work, and will also be used for hauling. My biggest tow is a 26' trailer with (2) SxS, camper, or about 6000#.

    My biggest question currently is do I go with the TRD OR package or would the air-suspension be better for my situation? I dont plan on going off-road, I just like the look of the TRD OR package and if you think this is better than air suspension, that settles that question. I do plan on adding a tranny cooler day-1 and I have a WD hitch already. Any options that may better fit my situation?

    There is a 3rd option other than the TRD or AVS; getting standard suspension and swapping out the shocks for something like the Elka 2.5 IFPs or something similar?

    Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Just make sure you are up to date on the payload, including how little is left with the tongue weight of the trailer.

    I hear you, doing some math now. Platinum Hybrid is 1575# payload...

    Trailer 26' is 2100#
    RZR is about 2000#
    General is about 1500#
    Total = 5600#

    Tongue is 560-600#
    This leaves about 1000# of payload. Passengers (3), and gear I'm going to say 300# each, and some of that gear is loaded on the trailer...

    I'm at the max, but its doable with the standard suspension and I dont think AVS or TRD adds to the payload. Maybe going with standard and replacing the shocks (coilovers) is a better option, but again, this is going to be my new daily driver, and towing is less than a dozen times a year its just the wife and I towing my RZR only on a 12ft. The 26ft trailer was twice in the last few years and this was so we didnt have to drive separately, worse case scenario.

    Welcome to the forum, from Big Bend Florida.

    I personally would skip the TRD for towing. they look great, but other trims have better capacities.

    I don't know about the Gen 3, but I have seen parts comparisons between the Tundra suspension parts and other 1/2 tons trucks. The Tundra parts were much beefier, and I assumed when I first looked at the pics that they were from a 3/4 ton truck. Hopefully, Toyota continued this practice with the Gen 3's. It's kind of stupid to have all that torque and hp just to be limited by your suspension.

    Just to make sure we arent confusing this, Im talking about the TRD OR package available on the Platinum trim, not the TRD Pro trim.

    Thats the problem with the hybrid, they use the same suspension and that battery aint lite, so it chews up a ton of payload capacity.
