So I have a 2008 Tundra with JBL that I have wanted to get a new Head Unit for. No matter what I tried, the head unit is when connected is putting out pure bass so I am redoing the whole system. I ordered new 6.5 inch components for the front, 6.5 inch coaxial for the rear. I took the door trim off today and this is the connector for the tweeter at the top of the door. The issue is from how I am seeing it, every connector I can find will reverse the polarity of the speaker. Every adaptor has the black wire going to the pin closest to the clip (which ive read is usually positive) Do i just hook it up reverse? Can anybody recommend a harness that will not reverse polarity? Am i having a moment of profound stupidity and missing something obvious? First off you can find wiring diagrams here.

    A few questions;
Did you bypass the OEM amp?
How many front speakers does the truck have?

The diagram reads it has 3 front; a woofer, mid and tweeter.
The 4 pin connector in your pic looks like N2, it only has 2 leads.
It runs thru the K12 which reads it is the front SIDE speaker (whatever that is) then thru a NK1 connector then to your tweeter.
The other speaker is the woofer running of the amp which may be why all you hear is low end.

Everything runs thru the AMP: fader, crossovers, balance, etc.

You either need to bypass the amp to use the OEM speaker wiring or run your own speaker wire from your new HU to your speakers.
I did that with my 2014 for the front doors, but used OEM wiring for the back doors.

I think right now the OEM amp is what is causing your confusion.
That amp is under your passenger seat..

    Note I don't have a 2008, I'm just reading the diagrams.
I didn't even know a 2008 would have a center speaker, but the diagrams reads a 2008 JBL did.

    Good luck...

Okay I think i got it. I was completely missing a cable from the box that goes from the main speaker to the tweeter so I dont even need that connector for the tweeter. So far I have this stuff ordered. Any input is appreciated!

    - Amp replacement harness from james
    - 4 channel amp
    - 6.5 inch component speaker (for front)
    - 6.5 inch coaxial speakers (for back)
    - cable adaptors for new speakers
    - speaker size adaptors

My general idea was to run new RCA cables from back of head unit to the new amp. Then I believe I just use the harness and wire that up appropriately to new amp. That harness sends the now amplified signal to the front components and rear coaxial. I was going to abandon the center and both sides of the dash. Seems like overkill to me (please let me know if I'm being stupid here). I will also abandon the sub and wire in a single channel amp if I ever feel that it is necessary. If I want to add some dash speakers it seems like I just bridge the signal from the amp and use the same signal as the door speakers to the 2 dash side speakers. I should be getting the harness in the next couple of days (I don't know how long it takes James to ship out) and then I can wire everything up and test it.

Agree on eliminating the dash speakers.
With a good pair of Focals components in the front doors of my 2014 I disconnected all 3 dash speakers..
    I would advise getting a 5-channel amp.
With the results you seek, you'll want some kind of sub (box or enclosure) before it's all said and done.

As well I can't post a link, but taco tunes makes some really nice cut-to-order speaker adapters.
It's the only thing I would buy from them, but they are nice.
