Thank you! Coming up on a year with it and we've been enjoying it. I definitely have some stuff I need to install and I'm hoping I'll be able to get to it this weekend or sometime before the next trip, which should be right after Christmas.

How do you like the Basecamp? We were thinking about one of those but when we got the 22' Sport Bambi, only the 16' Basecamp was available which as a bit too small. The larger format looks to be almost the same size as our 22FB.

 

I’d be curious to see more of the camper on your truck. The lines, overhang, have you built out the interior at all?

I agree with you, the 16' definitely felt small. I also liked the versatility of the front table. I will say the Basecamp does have a more utilitarian feel compared to say the Bambi or Caravel. I'm still working out the kinks on mine and with it being our first one, I'm still trying to figure out what is normal and what isn't. We did look at the Bambi too but weirdly enough, even though it had more space, it still felt weirdly small. But that maybe because we were looking at either their 16 or 20. We also didn't like the bed layout and the fact that it was smaller for our 3 dogs.

 

@g6t9ed I think the back door really makes it useful for carrying long items like kayaks where you can just stick them in along the floor. We would have to bend the kayaks around the door frame to get them into our 22FB.

I think the Basecamp has a bit more offroading capability. I lifted my 22FB by 3" and then put bigger tires on (Falken AT3W) so I have it raised up about 3.5" from original. I still see the black and grey dump valves getting torn off at the first wash out.

So... we're not that outdoorsy with ours, lol. Ours has been a permanent bed and we mostly fit our camp stuff underneath. It fits our tables, chairs, hammock, awning, rug.. well, our patio stuff when we're finally planted somewhere. It's been a great little passthrough/garage for us, lol.

 

Ya waiting for my awning mounts (Out of stock when installed in WA). I will be adding a 270 and shower/bathroom awning when they are shipped. There is a 22 gal water tank up front across the center of the bed, built into the bed build out. Also have a instant hot water heater on the back side of the shelf just behind the Ice cooler. Battery is under the bench. Since I got home I installed all my lighting and solar on the roof. I will post and update build soon.

 

Looks great! have you considered doing something to the suspension to support the weight?

 

That is my next step. Wanted to figure out the weight and then build a setup that can match it. Want to do a 3" lift along with it. I brought more tools and extra parts for what I thought I was going to do building out on the way back. A lot of the weight was stuff I would not normally bring. Should of just left the extra's at home. It was a tight timeline for the trip return. About 3000 miles in total.

 

I was thinking about adding an awning to my tent. I was very happy about being able to reuse my stuff. Mine was sitting at about 400 lbs. Maybe 500 or 600 lbs with all the camping gear and propane tanks.

Thanks, My goal was to continue with my Tundra but we switched . Some of the add-ons were interchangeable. The diamondback cover was the real question and it just fits as the bed rails on this one are just 1” further away all around. Everything else just bolts to the cover.

Bikes go on either side on 1up racks and kayaks go on the top of the tent.

 

Looks great, I’ve got a Diamondback cover with a @KB Voodoo rack and cargo tray that goes on and off easily over it, but trying to decide if I take the plunge a new direction. How hard would it be to take it on and off if you wanted?

BTW I have been really impressed with method bead grip wheels. I ran my 37’s at 8 psi all day with no problem. Definitely got great traction
