1/4 of price dealership quoted you. If doing rotors and pads, very easy and inexpensive to do yourself.

Voluntarily going to the dealership for brakes. Brakes are notoriously expensive at a dealership. Probably $600 in parts and then hourly labor rates. The job takes time to be done.

Stop complaining about the dealership and either do it yourself or go to a cheaper shop.

Very easy swap, a couple YouTube videos is all you really need. Just make sure to use a torque wrench when you snug up the wheels. Our rotor hats are notoriously easy to warp if you over tighten them.

Jay pawn I’m not complaining. Just curious. Actually the dealership price is $1100.00. Front and back.
But, I can get the best from rock auto for about 375.00. Front and back. So they are charging about $800.00 for install. That’s to much. I bet I can do it myself in under 2 hours maybe $ hours. That’s like $250.00 per hour. I understand they have to make a profit but DAM That’s crazy. And my son does brakes. He seems to enjoy it.

Well you can’t look at it that way. The dealer isn’t going to purchase through rockauto, they’re going to purchase through Toyota. They’re at the mercy of Toyota’s pricing. I’m sure for four corners, it’s more than $375. Maybe some can chime in that has purchased that way.

You’re right though. They do need to turn a profit but they also have to pay all the employees involved from service to techs, shop supplies, utilities, the building etc. That’s why we’re always more willing to pay extra for “made in America” or for local businesses.

With that said, definitely let your son do it and save some money!

If you’re getting pads and rotors for $375 - you’re just as well not installing the rotors because they’re junk. If you live anywhere other than a dry desert you’ll want to replace the shims too.

Their most expensive kit for a 2018 front and rear is $457 for R1 concepts. Drilled/slotted with pads and hardware.

not saying anything about quality, just stating the most expensive kit lol

Here is the cost to buy (if ordered online) from a participating Toyota dealer. If ordered a couple of days ago, it would have been - 25%

I hear ya. This is what I’d go with if I moved from OEM - anything less is a downgrade from everything I’ve seen.

Brakes are an easy DIY. Not as easy as an oil change but seriously, youtube it, and just get decent pads and rotors.

R1cocept was less expensive than power stop. Only by a few bucks.
