Been having fun playing with knives. A few years ago a friend gave me a little bag full of shards from a mammoth tusk. I cast em in blue epoxy and made the scales for the little one.
Another friend gave me some walnut that was a cut through where the black walnut and English walnut were grafted. The chef’s knife handle was a good place to try that out.

 

Finished with this little cleaver. It was so much fun to make, I have to make another one!

I use the chef's knife you made me nearly every meal I cook. It's starting to develop some patina.

 

My oldest used this one to enjoy his birthday steak last month! He wanted it that rare and who am I to judge.

If you ever decide you want to freshen the pattern, let me know and I’ll walk you through the process. Pretty easy, really.
On the other hand, many people love the patina (including myself), and let it be. It’s also a bit of a protective layer from corrosion and rust.

The pattern is still in good shape. I like the patina, it tells a story.

 

The main thing people need to understand is that it’s going gradually change if it’s being used. I try to ‘splain that to everyone. You are one of the best, regarding taking care!

I take care of my blades, even though I use the crap out of them.

This is my EDC. It's been in my pocket nearly every day since 2006 and has done things no knife should.
