I found this next to where I park my '06 Tundra. It seems to be a hood stop that attaches to the fender, one on each side. The odd thing is that there is already one on each side of the hood. I don't see anywhere for a third one. Maybe it's one that came loose at some point before I got it, and it was already replaced and now it finally fell out from wherever it was hiding?? Thanks for any insights.

Only 2 on my access cab. Can’t say if DC is different. Suspect either someone else’s or at some point in the past it was lost under the hood and now fell to the ground.

Well, my 2006 AC is identical to @bfunke’s, it has one per side, about midway along the fender. None toward the front. Does that one you found even match the profile of the two on the truck? It looks like it’s opposite, roughly.

It does match up, except for the rust stains on it. That's what made me wonder if it's been hiding in the bowels of the truck for a while. It was really strange, I half tripped over it this morning next to my truck in my driveway.

My DC only has 2 as well. Could it be an old one that fell off or got knocked off during a body repair or another mechanical repair?

That's my guess. I just thought I would double check that it wasn't used in another spot that I wasn't aware of. Considering the rust stains on it, I'm thinking it was laying around somewhere in the truck for quite a while.
