My father is going to likely be replacing his 2017 with a 2022+ tundra

what are the things he should look for when looking at used trucks of this model year? I know there's been a bunch of complaints on here but I honestly havent kept up with anything to do with the new gen trucks

Help me make sure he gets a good one.

Body panel alignment seems to have intermittently been an issue that would be a hard to fix issue. Particularly tail gate/rear.

I would check the gaps from all angles

Wind noise seems to be a problem too. It’s a truck so don’t expect it to be extremely quiet but some trucks are worse off than others. I’ve noticed more wind noise over the last couple thousand miles in my 24 than when I first got it.

My 24 Limited OR is definitely the quietest truck I've owned. Common issues, at least with the 2024s...

Radio knob breaking (mine is still fine)
Seat panel (many have posted the plastic along the outside of the seat bottom cracks over time - mine is fine)
Fuel gauge issue (if parked on a certain incline / angle, fuel gauge can incorrectly read as a full tank, even though you may only have 1/2 - 3/4 tank... - this has happened to me 1x, will get dealer to look at it when I get my next service)
Rear window rattle (if the rear window is all the way down, many have reported hearing a high-pitched rattling - I have this as well but only present when on gravel or rough pavement)

No major issues with mine, I'll get the fuel gauge and window thing looked at by the dealer, but in terms of drivability, comfort, power. Its a terrific, fun truck to drive...

You could always look at the 24. Some are almost prices same as 22
