Not sure what this one is, came with the truck. I keep thinking about removing it.

It doesn’t really serve a purpose for me. I think it’s intended to hold additional lights which I don’t need (has holes with grommets for wiring). I think it’s too light to use as a tow point, so wouldn’t be useful in stuck scenarios. It looks ok, but isn’t something I’d have chosen.

These bull bars are cosmetic, there to look "tough" and provide a place to mount some lights. Had one on my 2000 for years. Folded like a cheap lawn chair when I hit a deer. Did not prevent any damage to the truck, still smashed my bumper, grill and fog light. I liked the look then (installed in the 2010s) but think it's a bit dated now. There are some cool bumper replacements that feature a pre-runner style bull bar that are cool, but many monies.

I ran one for 15 years on my first gen. I did like it. And honestly it would still be on there if I hadn’t hit that deer and destroyed it. I don’t still love the look enough to buy another one though.

Thanks. I don’t mind the look but don’t love it either. But wasn’t thinking looks. I live in an area of routinely dense fog and tons of wildlife. I drive carefully, but it just feels like a matter of time…

Yeah you don't want a bull bar then if your concern is wildlife. You're going to be better off with a steel bumper or something of that sort. Like @KNABORES said, a deer took out his bull bar. Usually they're only attached by two bolts on each under down underneath the bumper so anything hitting it, it'll snap and smash into your front end. Causing same if not more damage than without anything there. Unfortunately with wildlife, it's nearly impossible to complete prevent any collisions. Upgraded lights can only still see so much.
