    Hello to all,

whenever i pull into a place to park, i put on brake, then shift from Drive to Park, as i make the shift, you can hear a very distinctive "wind down sound". Is this the tranny shifting? If so, does yours make that loud of a sound? I've never had any car or truck do this.

    thanks for your feedback

If its a whining noise that is the parking brake engaging, not a cause for alarm.

Are you sure it's not the rear calipers making the noise when compressing on the rotors? You do say "I put on brake" but this process is actually automatic (unless you disabled it) and happens exactly at the time of you shifting from D to P.

Thank you very much for your responses.

i pull into my garage (auto ignition cut off feature turned off), I apply the brakes to fully stop, then shift into park. It's when i shift thot i hear the noise. I just pulled in, applied brakes to completely stop, waites 2-2 secs and then heard when i shifted to park. It's not the brake calipers peel that tear.

    Thanks again

Normal. It’s part of the parking brake system as mentioned above

You can disable that parking brake when in park with ignition on by holding the parking brake release switch in the off position for 3 seconds. It's in the owners manual as well.

Yup just the parking break. My wife’s Mazada 3 makes the same noise when you engage hers.
