12" shallow sub advice, tips, pointers

Howdy!

So I've seat deleted my DC and in the process of building out a platform/draw system to permanently take it's place.

Within the platform I've dedicated 1.26 cu ft internal space to a sealed sub, the box will be bolted into the platform but sit taller overall and be removable.

Currently running an hideaway, I'd like a better spectrum of bass. Any recommendations on a 12" shallow sub based on the cu ft I have? I don't need the best of the best $$ but I'd like something very comparable.

Lastly would it be better to have the sub facing the interior or rear wall? (which is sound deadened and covered in close cell foam). I've not delved into car audio for decades so some pointers would be appreciated
