I mean yeah sure, I get it, times are a changing. Bruce turned into a Caitlyn. Ryan is now... Ryanne?

That's funny, Ryanne is my daughter's name! But she doesn't have a Tundra ;)

After just over three month of waiting, I got this from the dealer today:

"Morning [ShShSh]! Great news. Parts are here. We are looking at Thursday night/ Friday afternoon for completion time. I will text you as I know more."

I immediately responded and asked if it was a full engine replacement or short block replacement. No answer. "Parts" makes me think it ain't the whole shebang. It should just be "your new engine is here," right?

So... I've been seriously considering getting ridding of it when the new engine is put in, but this probably isn't the new engine. Christallmighty.

Stupid question, but I figure none of us is as dumb as all of us, so: What's the consensus on this? Is this a replaced engine or a patched engine? Would you be pleased with this if it were your truck?

At this point it makes no sense for Toyota to put in a short block rebuild only to yank the thing out again in a few months and toss in a long block but who knows.

If that’s the case then these replacement engines aren’t clear… that is just going to dig this grave deeper if that’s the case.

He does say shirt blocks. Recall engines are long blocks. Maybe something different between the two? Not sure.

An engine assembly, or a long block, both utilize a short block to make them what they are, so in any case, a short block related issue is going to be present on some or all V35A that is coming out of TMMAL.

Ryan, can you please pm me all the juicy details? I am close to deciding on a new tundra with the 2.9% financing for 72 months. Should I keep what I have and get a new engine, or go for the great interest rate??

Could it be that these short blocks are for non recall replacements. Are the newer trucks and hybrids getting this?

If you can score that deal on a 25, and the dealer gives a fair price on the 22, then why not ?

Agree. That 2.9 for 72 months is very tempting.

Sounds like some great deals out there. Up here the prices are tighter and rates are higher. With all the lots being full and the new models coming out, I am sure that deals can be sweetened even more.

Upon the expiration of my 30 day ban from Tundras.com I would like to take this opportunity to apologize directly to the workers at Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Alabama. My questioning of their intelligence was completely out of line and completely uncalled for. Mistakes can and do happen in every industry and the V-35A was no different. This mistake has proven to be minor issue affecting very few vehicles and is well on its way to being completely resolved. Upon further research I would like to retract my prior statements and now state definitively that the workers at TMMAL have been doing an excellent job producing the finest half ton pickup motor ever made. In that vein, it is probably time for this thread to be locked and deleted as there is little more to discuss on this topic.

I also now understand that by insulting a person or persons from a particular geographic area, their friends and family of that area may also be offended. I can assure you all my intent was not to besmirch an entire state, but I now understand, by making a negative reference about people in a geographic area , I was actually making a negative reference about the a geographic area.

Further I would like to state to the moderators that I realize that the term "mouth breather" has a pejorative connotation. I mistakenly understood it as slang for a "stupid person" per the dictionary definition. However, I now understand that some believe it has other connotations beyond what Webster's dictionary defines. Clearly a number of members of the forum feel the same and subscribe to additional connotations beyond the dictionary definition. I would like to apologize directly to those members whos' definition of that term indicates that I acted with extreme animus far beyond questioning ones' intelligence. I can assure you that was never my intent, but as I learned recently DEI training course my intent is completely irrelevant. The only relevance is how the comment is received and how it makes the recipient feel about themselves. Therefore one must be extremely sensitive in choosing terms that can be assured not to cause offense regardless if offense was not intended.

I fully understand that the use of use of pejorative language to describe anyone, especially Toyota employees is a policy violation of the forum rules, hence my ban form this forum which I fully deserved.

I would also like to to apologize to the moderators. I fully appreciate how my use of the term "mouth breather" could be taken as extremely offensive, and I promise going forward I will watch my words carefully to make sure it won’t happen again. I hold your role as moderators in high regard and value the role you play in preventing people from being harmed by offensive comments on this forum.

Lastly I would encourage my fellow forum participants to cease any further pejorative comments of any kind about any persons on this forum or beyond it, most especially employees of Toyota North America or any of its subsidiaries.

One more time. I would like to apologize for any hurt feelings. Not only do words have the power to cause hurt and pain, but sometimes they inflict far more damage than a stick or a stone, and the scars may last far longer. I am so sorry.
