I put up some Govee Pro Permanent Christmas Lights on the house. No more grabbing the ladder out for (hopefully) 10 or so years. Bottom was easy to put up, tops were a bit of a challenge, but had my dad come over and help hold the ladder for me.

I went with the Pro's so that i could just set them as white light on the corners and side yards for the other 10 months.

I think the install came out pretty clean

If it was a smooth finish like on the east coast, I’d do it. But this textured stuff, I don’t think it’s worth it. I’m pretty good at texturing, but it’s still hard to do without the line telegraphing through and catching your eye. Plus, I’d have to paint over that, and the paint job in this part of the house is so old, any new paint won’t match, so I’d have to paint quite a bit. Maybe someday! For now I’m good with the conduit.

I could put a fake plant in front of it :anonymous:

Got a link to the ones you used? I was just asking about these yesterday. Our neighbor uses Govee.

    I paid $519 for 200' of the Pro's.
Just FYI, i thought i was going to be slightly under the 150' kit length, but i could have gotten away with just the 150' kit. I might run them up the side of the house, or just keep a spare and sell the rest.

Our house has a Christmas light outlet on the side of the house up under the eves (on the right side of the gif). So i plugged the power source and controller over there, ran the lights from right to left, then up to the second story and then left to right.

The pro's come with a bunch of splices and extension. I dont think that the non-pro ones are supposed to be spliced, but people figured out how to do it. Splicing was a little bit of a pain for the first one (getting the sheath off without stripping wires), but the connector is kinda like a Wago connector so it was easy enough. App is pretty good, wish there were more Christmas presets for the Pro's but what i've read, most people make their own color combinations since they are individually addressable. There's also a spot where people create scenes and you can copy them to your house. Pretty cool.

I've been sidelined with a full distal bicep tear and the surgery required to reattach it. Not entirely fun, but not the worst injury I have ever had. That means no lifting anything over 2 lbs with my right arm. At least I can burn some of the stuff from my yard. Trying to get things cleaned up before winter hits.

That's great to hear. We have a plug underneath our eave in the front with a switch inside to turn them on and off. But if they're programmable, then I'll just leave that switch on and program it. Good to know you can splice them together without issue. Hoping I can do it with about 300-400' of lights....maybe more. Our house bottom floor is around 3500 ft² including the garage it'd go around, so I'm hoping that isn't an issue.
I seen they're about to have their black Friday sale....so hoping to get it then

@Cfincke and @Ebrperk what size is the portafilter basket on that machine, do you know?

If it's 58mm - 58.5mm, what are you each using for a tamper?

There's a reason I'm asking. Need to find someone that has an espresso machine that uses ~58mm pf basket and is still using an oldschool tamper.

Yes they are programmable. I have them turn on 20m before sunset and off at midnight.

I think you would need to buy multiple kits but Ive read its easy to link multiple kits together in the app.

Almost done with repainting the living room. One more coat of white paint will hopefully do it and then I can move the furniture back. I'm not sure why I do this to myself. :frusty:

I don’t see a printer shelf on the wall, with an alarm system, that triggers gun shots built there.

We must get the same adds on social media. I want govee "permanent" lights now. A neighbor has something like it and they're awesome looking but I'm concerned with longevity vs. the labor of a proper clean install.

I'm starting to dig into the factory warranty and the 3 year warranty available to purchase for $70 or so through Bezo's mart

That's the room next to this one with the security camera and alarm system that shoots bean bags at crotch level. Blood is hard to get out of the crevices in the wood floor.

I bought strands of multi-color LED lights from Walmart five plus years ago. I've only installed them once yet they light my house every holiday season. IMG_7484.jpg

This is what I put up and take down every year. Even added some extra Walmart holiday time twinkling nets over the bushes this year! The HOA would NOT allow them to stay up more than 30 days past the "holiday season" which is set at their discretion. Solution? Move out of HOA neighborhood? lol

Hahaha. Funny you say this as I almost added this line in my post above.

However, I do live in a street with only 4 other houses and no HOA.

so to answer your question, yeah that HOA board sucks, and your long term solution is to get away from it.

I can tell you have great painting skills. This looks really good. Finding people to do good work at a price that makes it worth it to let them loose in your house, that's what keeps me doing it myself.

Seriously though, thank you. It's not perfect but the amount of money saved is definitely worth it.

    Thanks!

The color is called Ash Violet. My oldest stepdaughter who passed away from Huntington's loved purple and her middle name is "Ashley" - I found that color when we moved her so it was like bringing her with us.

Here's the exact code from the can:

I want to say we had a similar color in her room at our old house but it was a different brand and when I took a sample to Lowe’s, that was the color name that popped up.

Legitimately LOL'd at this. Our bathroom has 3 switches in it - one for the fan, one for the light, and one for a ceiling-mounted heat lamp (to keep it warm in the dead of winter).

My son *consistently* accidentally turns on the *heat lamp* instead of the fan when he takes a giant shit...who the hell wants to hotbox the bathroom after a giant shit? He does, evidently.

Just saw this, @IMXPLRN - my condolences (as someone who had this in 2014). Myself and some others have had that surgery done; if you need or want any recovery tips/tricks, let me know via PM.
