Isnt the HPS an open element kit? Wont be doing anything other than sucking in hot air.

stock truck already has a cold air intake.....
No gains to be had with an aftermaket intake, fyi....other than more sound and a lighter wallet.

K&N for me,put in over a year ago and zero issues.
Love the sound of the turbos spooling up and you can distinctly hear the blow off.

upgrading your intake but retain stock exhaust is a complete waste of cash, better air intake better exhaust out , upgrade ur exhaust would be a better option increase flow

Agreed, & I swapped out stock for Magna Flow SS.
Had both items sitting in my garage a month before I received my truck.

None of these improve performance over stock intake

Yes, I also agree with that, until it gets tuned and hot charge pipes installed it's just throwing money at it but with just intake and exhaust installed it sounds 110% better than stock, period.
I also think it is the objective of the OP's question.

more than I can list here
First and second gen tundras have been tested to death by me and by pretty much everybody. Stock intake with SABM is the way to go.

but…: third gen tundra does for sure have room for improvement. If you look at the design of the stock intake, there’s a kind of snorkel leading from the box to the inner wheel well. That is the restriction.

AFE is the only intake which sandwiches the new box and it’s opening to the opening of the wheel well. And the opening of the box matches the size of the opening of the wheel well. This gets rid of the restriction and gains power that you can actually feel.

that’s the reason that the only air intake you will find for a tundra on my site is for a 3rd gen tundra.
