    Hello to all,

I was slowly coasting up to a traffic light and the cars already stopped at light. I certainly was not on too of the car in front of me, but all of a sudden the brakes slammed on and it's a real jolt.

    Question:

is there either a way to turn off this "safety" feature or tone done the abruptness of the brakes slam?

Also, I know when backing up, it will do the same thing. Just the other day, it slammed on the brakes while backing up out of my driveway, while nothing was near the back of the car. I believe what happened is after i went down my driveway into the street, there's a very sm dip. If the truck bounces down slightly, assuming the rear cameras caught glimpse of the ground and it slammed on the brakes Has anyone experienced this? If so, is there a way to adjust this?

    Thank you,
    tstex

yes, you can do all of that in the menu on the dash, you can adjust the sensitivity , etc.

PCS is what you're looking for, I suggest you read the manual as well. I have mine still on but a notch or two lower

Thank you very much Breathing! I've only had the truck for a couple of weeks & have traveled 80% of that time.

I'm going back to dealership for new car orientation w a list of 20-30 questions. This will be one of them.

    thanks again

this dealership has a person (and it's all he does) that gives each car buyer a 30 min review on the cars operating system. I had to stop mine in first 5 mins bc of an emergency wk call, but have an invitation to return. I'll post back next week after I go thru my review.

    thanks

    None... yet.
PCS is extremely annoying. It has slammed on the brakes for me several times now. Each time I was nowhere near enough to the car in front of me for it to have done that/be justified. While it can be "turned off" via the dash menu, it resets right back to default once you turn the tundra off/on - very annoying. I will have to read thru the manual to see if it can be permanently turned off... if not, then I will have to look at how to "tone" it down... before the safety feature actually causes an accident. This is a good example of too much tech NOT helping.

just turn it to the lowest setting but still on, I find this acceptable for 99% of the time , not perfect but fine. It did help me one time in a little bit of a o shit moment

On the bottom panel of buttons (left of steering wheel) there is a button with a cone thing and that disables the automatic brake when reversing to close to something. Also you can navigate in the settings menu on your steering wheel and you can change the sensitivity of the PCS (pre collision safety)

Well, went back to dealer and the car orientation guy knew everything, including where to go immediately in PCS to turn down the abruptness of the auto stop for forward. For backing up, there's a button to the lower left thst completely turns off the "back up auto-stop". That wks for me.

as an FYI, my last truck had 125K and all of the program changes wee via hard buttons. It did not have a display screen for almost everything. I have to really focus & concentrate when driving to change the radio. I have found i better be real careful bc even going slow, other cars pop up fast.

I hear you on needing concentrate in order to change the radio. I learned you can use the speaking dude button on lowered left of the steering wheel to tell it what you want to do. Just push it and say "tune to 92.5 FM" and it will do it. No need to say "hey Toyota".

Same here. Bailed me out in a moment of lapsed spatial awareness once.
