That one's pretty easy to pick. Just need to tension it and run a hook to tag the tumblers. Not that your average savage wants to spend 30 seconds on it, but it's pretty quick and easy to do. Thieves and liars can EAD&DIAF

If someone wants to spend time trying to pick it…good luck. Thieves won’t waste their time with that and risk being caught. They’ll just move onto the next one.

Totally. Believe me, I know. Low hanging fruit always gets picked, long before the lock does. Takes sophisticated swine to bother with a lock when there's no way to infer anything worthwhile being inside.

Another fun repair this week was my gate control arm. I guess maybe someone was attempting to turn around in my entryway to the property and got stuck against the fence. Buckled one of my arms. My oldest and I changed it out in 10 minutes which included pulling the new wire.

Ghost controls gives pretty hefty military and first responder discounts, so this oops only cost me 220.00 to my door. IMG_6221.jpg

arm is bent and plastic is busted.

Been remodeling the main floor guest 1/2 bath.
Ripped out the standing sink and installed a vanity, with a new sink, and made it a 1 handle faucet. Upgraded the knobs and switched the toilet handle to match. Will put up new towel holder, and tp holder tmrw.
Took down old mirror. New one will be up tmrw
Moved the ceiling led light from the corner, to the middle of the ceiling.
Ran power for a vanity light (will hang up tmrw)
Spackled is drying and then hopefully it’ll be dry enough to sand, paint, and texture.

I still have shelves or whatever the wife wants to hang

Before photo is first pic, and then some progress pix.

All of the bull work has been completed, the old post out and tossed to the curb & new one. I dug the trench ran the conduit and buried it.
I Jerry rigged the wires for temporary satisfaction, the cameras on line so good enough for the day plus it's getting dark and I'm ready to eat.
The last picture is the cameras FOV.

At 11 I tossed a pork loin with taters carrots, onion in the crackpot so just like me,it's done!

You planning any storage over the shitter? There's a lot of cool little stuff you can buy that makes a world of difference for stuffing towels, TP rolls etc, away. I'll snap a pic of what all I dropped in the gym/rec bathroom in a minute. Need to run downstairs to the shop and clean up some wheels, shop shares a wall w/that bathroom.

Finally made room for the new-to-me rolling toolbox my friend and wife surprised me with months ago. Rainy day kept me from doing truck stuff so I got an itch to tackle the garage. We, meaning "I", suffer from a slight case of hoarding so we really have too much crap.

Warning to OCD/Neat freaks: the following images may cause you to go into seizures and/or catatonic shock.

    1000006164.jpg 1000006185.jpg 1000006186.jpg

Doesn't look very organized but, it was way worse when I started.

    1000006165.jpg

Had to cut about 8" from the shelving along the wall to make room for the box. I have countertops that came from a parts store that closed down so one of them had to be moved further along the wall.

    Proof I threw stuff away:
    1000006187.jpg PXL_20241117_220902055.jpg

Anyway, the real fun now comes when I clear off the work bench that has been cluttered pretty much since we bought the place. Weird thing is, I know where specific bolts, nuts, washers, bits, and odds and ends are scattered on the bench. If I'm working on something and need a washer, etc. I remember seeing it on the bench in a specific spot and can go get it. After I "organize" things I'll likely never be able to find anything.

I have no idea what she wants. Currently it has a small standing cabinet in there, but I know she wants that out

Our space is tight. Our oldest (teen) has taken over it so she doesn’t have to share a bathroom with her “yucky” younger brother. But we managed to squeeze it all in here. Most of this came from big orange and big blue, the bamboo over toilet cabinet is off scAmazon, defogging backlit mirror / toilet / fixtures from build.com (as is the flooring, IIRC).

We have a regular big ass mirror in our master bath that works great for that but also a killer Panasonic vent fan that never allows it to steam, but the double bath the kids would share have these defogger mirrors.

Got sick of kids and in-laws bitching about foggy mirrors because they can’t be bothered to turn on the exhaust fan. Mindboggling. The youngest really baffles me, and this will help explain why his sister doesn’t want to share a bathroom. He’ll go into the bathroom, drop several deuces with the exhaust fan off, never flush in the 15-min long process, then fire up a hot ass shower and steam the place up with all that funk in the air. THEN finally flush the toilet after the shower. When he remembers. Defilarly his sister would lift the seat and find swimmers floating, typically after walking by and smelling something vile lingering out of the bathroom.

I don’t remember being this level of aloof asshole when I was his age. He is currently on a 1wk hiatus from all screens and devices over failures to do basic stuff, turn off lights, flush toilets, etc. Every day it’s a damn challenge.

I've been close to doing this and I think I'm ready to start getting this done.
Has anyone had any experience with permanent lights on the house that you can change colors on like Christmas, Halloween, team colors, regular white?
Our neighbors has Govee lights. They look great, but wanted more opinions.
Pros and cons to them? Longevity? Warranties? Ease of use? Hard wired, or plug?

    Any and all input appreciated!

He sounds like he goes to the same school of life as the bonus kiddo I have who is 13. He has ADHD, and takes meds for it, but the kid gets on my nerves in the worst way by doing things similar to what yours does.

Soon to be 12 here. Our little dude, I'm certain, has ADD, lacks the hyperactive component though. I also had undiagnosed ADD but we didn't have the money for meds or diagnosis and other stuff when I was a kid. It became clear the first time in my early 20s when a friend shared their Ritalin with me to help me study, it was like a light went off. But I function better without it, somehow. I learned how to live with it, and use it to my advantage.

Close friend of ours has a kid with ADHD, he's markedly different, he can't function w/o meds. We opted to skip the meds for as long as possible, but ours has all of the hallmark signs, attention deficit, always losing or forgetting stuff he just had in his hands (water bottles, shoes, laptop, watch, you name it), has no concept of time, never remembers to turn lights off, turn bathroom fans on, you can tell him to wash his hair while taking a shower, he'll repeat it back to you twice, get out of the bathroom clean as a whistle but hair dry as a bone. I want to strangle the little dude multiple times per week.

But he's smart as hell, and a creative little shit. Just helped him publish his 4th album on Spotify this week...

Caleb is all of that plus the hyper. Kid can drink caffeine by the gallon and eat sugar by the truckload and it just evens him out (he kinda does what he wants when he's at his dad's - our house is quite a bit different). He's a straight A student when he's on meds which is why we do it...The wife tried to go a weekend without giving him a pill, but it just proved our marriage wouldn't be able to weather that another weekend.

Like you, I went undiagnosed ADD for years. Learned to live with it I guess. My parents wouldn't have gotten me a prescription for meds anyway...Dad would've just chalked it up to not enough chores and worked me harder in the pasture.

We have been going back and forth on a shed and barn combo for the homestead and a major decision was made last week. So this week I am sourcing someone to remove an old single wide of my property and then I am knocking down a couple of trees. I will hold back the exciting news on that for when we break ground, but an opportunity presented itself I could not turn down.

In other news, i am not buying a shed anytime soon and the moisture on the back porch impacted some of our christmas stuff, so I decided to take the wood for the pump house roof project and deck a small landing in my attic....

The project started by removing the gifts the previous home owner left up on one side only.. aka, there is still more up there:

    upload_2024-11-19_10-56-37.png

Then, I saw this... any ideas from yall on how to get rid of this gap?

    upload_2024-11-19_10-57-7.png

While investigating the gaps, I figured out why i have been fighting the occasional spider on the master side of the house....

    upload_2024-11-19_10-57-44.png

    Then the nightmare began....

    upload_2024-11-19_10-58-7.png

    upload_2024-11-19_10-58-21.png

    upload_2024-11-19_10-58-33.png

So I murdered him and his friends, vacuumed up the evidence and threw up this temporary solution while I wait for cooler weather and more patience to do it right/permanent.

    upload_2024-11-19_10-59-41.png

After this and ensuring i didnt burn down the house, i got the first side of decking installed:

    upload_2024-11-19_11-2-9.png

ready for holiday totes while I recover and loosen back up.

I have a few home project irons in the fire but this is one that I'm excited about. Putting new paint on my projector wall, which has had a lot of kid and teenager hands on it, and probably things thrown at it over the years. When my older daughter was in high school, there would be pretty large groups of teens down here regularly. I think they called it a hang out or kick back or something like that. Several of my home theater keyboards did not survive. Also, my younger daughter, if she can touch a TV screen, she will do it often, so the dry wall screen was a great way to make a fairly kid-proof, servicable TV.

I installed the wall panels in 2013, the same time that I bought the current projector. To make the screen on a budget I used 3/8" drywall glued to the textured drywall, with one seam that was taped/feathered. Drywall screws would have been a lot easier, but the basement was finished by the previous owner without studs on the outside walls, just glued rigid foam and drywall. Added the simple black frame. Dimensions of the screen inside the frame are 9-7" wide x 67" tall. I installed the projector first and then built the screen. The current paint color is Silver Screen. This time I am going with a white. Just need to decide how white, but I'm not looking for theater perfection.

Also updating the 2013 projector, arrives in a few days. :)

Wish I could, but there’s no air space/studs behind the drywall! :(
