Found my truck in a town 60 miles away as the local dealer had two trucks, both low option trucks. Not what I wanted. When by my local dealer yesterday and ask if they could help me with the connective plan on my week old truck. I was told my best bet was to go back to where I bought it. Is this normal for Toyota dealers? Thought that was pretty crappy of them.

The two dealers by me both within 40 Miles apart do not play well together. I feel this is a dealer issue virus a Toyota issue. I’ve seen the same with Jeep. I feel it’s BS and have addressed it with corporate but to no avail.

Not surprising. Why would the dealer spend time with you when you didn’t buy from them. I would bet most people service their vehicle at the dealer it was purchased from. Where do you plan to have the truck serviced? If at your local dealer, talk with the service manager and state you would like to have your services completed there, but no one seems very “helpful”. Might get them to become friendlier.

From a personal experience at local dealership not where I got my truck from but I do use them to service 4 toyotas 2 of which i got from them, my service advisor and master tech were more willing to help me with my issues but service manager instructed both the master tech and the service advisor to not do any more work on my truck and to tell me to take it back to the dealership where I bought the truck that’s 2 hours drive.

Reason he said I should of wait for my allocation with them, I did had a deposit with them for 6 months but to this day they have not got a hybrid limited allocated and only a handful of hybrids all platinum and only 1 pro that they wanted $15k over msrp.

Yeah. Doesn’t make sense if you have 2 vehicles serviced there. Seems they would want to attract your business with more volume. Next to the F&I office, service is where the dealer has a continuous stream of income.

I had a $500 deposit at local dealer for new but bought certified preowned 21 tundra from dealer 340 miles away in Kansas. Still under factory warranty. When turned cold last week got a tpms light even after I checked pressures. Dropped by local dealer without service appointment. Young guy at service counter was more than happy to check it out. Suggested run few pounds higher than sticker on door jamb when cold. No problem since.

So my local dealer seems not butt hurt that didn't buy truck from them, doesn't have their dealer label on tailgate. Guess service support can vary by dealer, who we get, time of month, time of day.

While it is crappy of them, technically they don't have to help you. But I suppose I've not interacted with enough dealers to have them deny me of help.

Again this is pretty crappy of them as well. Good customer service goes along way with making a repeat customer. If you could get service elsewhere, I'd tell them to eat a di¢× and take my business elsewhere. I guess I'm lucky as I have 6 Toyota dealers within 60-65 miles of me. Although the closest is still 30 miles away. I have and run a custom cabinet shop. I try to treat all my customers old and prospective with courteous. But when it's repeatedly obvious that it's gonna lead to no where, I put it to a stop if I don't have time.

This is how most dealers I've dealt with have been. As far as running more psi, it's not necessary. When it gets cold enough, the air condenses and lowers your overall pressure. Bringing it back to what it was before, will be fine. No need to put it higher, that would just harshen the ride.

I bought my truck 250 miles from home. At 300 miles a cel came on. Took it to my local dealer and first thing they asked was where I bought my truck. It had a bad 02 sensor that they said it was 2 weeks out. I said ok but called Toyota to inquire about 2 weeks off my payment lol funny thing is that not even 2 hours after the call I get notified that my truck is fixed and ready. I really think the local dealer wanted to fuck with me cause I didn’t but it from them.

yep, true, understand cold air. I always check cold and had set 30 front, 33 rear per door jam. Tech checked and brought them all to 36 warm. Said the delta front to rear tends to throw caution when we get up and down weather. No more lights so guess he had a point.

I don't mind slightly stiffer ride, actually feels better to me. Higher rear only seems logical to me if towing, which I'll do for longer tow trips.

We bought my wife’s 2023 Hybrid RAV4 and my 2024 Platinum Tundra from an auto broker we’ve used for years. The Rav was from a dealer in California and the Tundra from a dealer in Phoenix. I take them both to Mountain States Toyota in Colorado, a 15 minute trip from my house. They have been great about everything! Had similar great experiences with my 2018 Tacoma at Stevenson Toyota in Lakewood Colorado, 15 or so minutes from my job before I retired. Now if I could just get off their list for extended service contract emails.

Funny my local dealers didnt really care that I bought the truck elsewhere.

In dealer world, after you buy the vehicle their transaction is done.
The service areas make the money for the dealers.
Bring it to them, they get the service money out of you. Warranty or direct

    Nitrogen filled tires!

Same is true here - the long term $$$ is made in service and parts. Dealer will never see my truck in their shop if it is not a recall, TSB, warranty or to purchase parts for DIY. This includes not allowing them to do any Toyota Care service - I'd rather do it myself and know it is right and not rushed.

I have had 2 different Tundra's and the wife has a RAV4. Two of those 3 were purchased elsewhere (another Toyota dealer and a Chevy/GMC dealer. Ive had each at different Toyota dealers over the last 12 years
all of which had no issues servicing the vehicles in or out of warranty. I guess i dont understand their reluctance to make a dollar.

I did have one issue with the spray in bed liner (under warranty) from my old 2011, but thats because in ohio no dealerships were receiving Tundras with that option. My old tundra came from the SET region and ended up getting warranty work done at a Ford dealership who could make the repair.

Sales/Service/Parts/Body are all differnet business entities, all under the same roof and one has no control over what the other does, so why would service have a stick up their butts if you didnt purchase it there,
makes no sense, especially if the warranty is still valid, or even if its past the 3/36K.

$$$ is $$$ - i would think if you wanted to spend your $$$ with me, I'll take it... and say thank you !!! LOL
