Just changed oil for the first time on my 2007 tundra with 5.7.
I purchased it from a local ford dealer who had serviced it
    just before it was sold.
I have never serviced a toyota 5.7 before, but noticed the old filter I removed was missing the perforated tube from inside the paper filter. Do I need to replace this ???

So you are saying the dealer did an oil and filter change and failed to replace the tube with the filter?

Yes it was a Ford dealer ,not sure if it wasn't there when they changed it and didn't know about it, but it's not there now.

    Pretty things
Definitely get a replacement. Don't want the filter to collapse and block oil flow to your expensive 3ur.

I bought the metal oil filter cap (and swapped over my existing tube) because the previous maintenance performing individual used an entire can of elbow grease upon installation. The plastic was already quite shredded, I assume from prior removal attempts.

I have been very happy with the aluminum replacement cap, specific wrench, and brass drain valve.
