    F7710684-8BC7-4762-BB44-76AD98D5CC35.jpg My 2006 4 door, the left rear seat folding pull tab is gone and fixing it has me stumped. I searched the forum and have not found this problem. Most likely I’m not asking the right question in the search. The problem is left side rear seat folding release pull tab/strap is not there. So I can’t fold up the left rear seat. I ordered a replacement pull strap from the Yuma Toyota dealership. I could use help on how to dig in to the seat bottom to get to the cables and fold up the seat. Item number 78920B. Then maybe remove the rear seat, take it out to fix it.

    Help? Anybody? It’s been a couple weeks and either I am missing something so obvious that it doesn’t need answered or maybe nobody has had this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I’m not familiar with the DC, but from looking at the diagram you provided: Can you use some needle nose pliers to grab/pull the loose wire under the seat?

    Thanks for the reply. The back seat is slammed right to the floor. No way to get under it that I can see. The only option that I see is to remove the screws in the plastic bottom trim and pry it down. Maybe I can get to the cable mechanism that way. Thanks

    Perhaps use an right angle or hook shaped pick to grab the release mechanism the cables are attached to?

    If you can get the plastic off or there is room to sneak them by.

    So I didn't end up taking any pics because there's not really anything to see.

    It looks like you could take out the two visible screws with the seat down and pull the panel down enough to get a pair of needle nose in to grab the cable.

    The strap itself is only about 3 inches until it connects to what looks like a pin.

    If it warms up tomorrow I'll pull the underseat panel off and get some pics.

    Might have to do the ‘No Look’.

    Resurrection. Im having this same issue on my rear seat passenger side. Seat removal and replacement is common for me, I'm sure there's supposed to be a tab there but now it looks like there isn't. It must've broken or something. I have removed as much of the plastic trim bottom panel as I can to reach inside but there's no cable or anything. Did you ever fix this? @Tsgrav2011

    @912 any tips?

    How I have it right now with a look underneath. No sign of a cable to grab and pull. Feels like I've lost my marbles

    My 2006 right side rear pax bottom has a lever to release the catches. Only the drivers side rear seat bottom has a cable.

    I don’t see a lever for the seat bottom in your photos. The 2004 might be different??

    i had a total dipshit moment. You are correct in that The lever to raise/collapse the seat back also disengages the rear bar latch like your pass side backseat too. Few years ago i was removing/reinstalling the backseats on the original seats the truck came with, with the pull tab as seen in a prior post of mine from years ago. Now my current backseat is a unit pulled off a junkyard Sequoia, and i guess the mechanism the same as the 05-06 tundras. Derp

    When the seat back moves (with the regular side lever, no pull tab), the bottom left red tab pushes up on the little roller pointed to by the red arrow. This causes downward force on the connector-bar-thing which pivots the seat latch mechanism, and thus, disengages the latch.

    I did finally get mine fixed after putting it off for a year. Using the parts illustration, I could see the cable was what to get after …so thats what I did. Removed as many of the screws that attach the plastic trim around the bottom of the seat then pried it down enough to get my hand into the void underneath to where I felt the cable. With the plastic trim trying to cut my forearm open I was able to pull the cable housing and the seat popped open. The replacement cable is not available new from Toyota, but after looking at the outboard section that connects to the pull tab to the rest of the assembly, it is the same cable as a bicycle shifter cable. Being a MTB rider I happen to have a couple of those cables so I replaced the outboard section with the shifter cable and for a handle I used a piece of wood handle sawed off a small wire brush. Drilled three holes in it and laced the cable through the holes and back to its self. Works like a champ.IMG_5921.jpg
