You paid a premium for the air ride system in your truck, why would you want to spend more money to delete it? Please don't tell me it's to gain the supposed 7/8" in the rear.

I don't really have a good valid reason. At the time that was the truck they had on the lot (anything else was several months out), needed the extra space with a baby coming and I don't really haul anything heavy.

I am getting a nice bonus and wanted to put a lift on it with new shocks and coils up front and this would let me have that in the rear as well.

Get the afe ride height arms. They got me about 1.5” lift on the rear. I love the bags for towing and any time I put anything in the bed. I gave up on the trd off road package for the air. I’ve not regretted it.

I love mine, but I am also not lifting it, thru that phase of life . Put it this way if you tow and want to be droopy, eliminate it, or, look like you have your shit together towing, keep it. More less that simple

I would advise against deleting the bags unless youre going full tilt and lifting it 6+ inches. Instead, I would get a readylift kit, use the bag spacer and run that with stock ride height arms. This will give you about a 2in lift and wont impact ride quality with added air/psi in your bags. If you want to go higher, you could then run the readylift arms or any other arms along with the shock extenders provided by readylift. I've been running this setup in my truck and its the best of both worlds...stock ride quality, extra lift and no sag.

I read the title and interpreted this as the air bags within the car... You know for safety.

My immediate thought was WTF, so I clicked in the thread. It feels good to know I misinterpreted this.

Going with the readylift option I should get new rear shocks as well? My impression is that option would put more strain on the air bags by extending them, or removing either the extension or rebound (idk the terminology but get the theory).

But with that spacer, it keeps the air bags at original ride height, or center? And yes,I'm only looking for 2 inch lift. A week bit more clearance for camping and running about our property so larger tires don't rub as well as aesthetics for me

The readylift kit comes with shock extenders you screw onto the top of the shock shaft...essentially extending the shaft so you keep the shock within usable travel range.

Simply adding more air to the bags to get more lift, does put a strain on them as it stretches them a bit more and they now have more air pressure to deal with. Something you do not want when towing or hauling heavy loads.

The kit will keep the bags close to same psi and same "extension" as stock, but 2" higher because of the spacer.

Your ride height will now be limited by the oem adjustment arms. If you install the adjustment arms from the kit, you can go higher than a maxed out oem adjustment arm...otherwise, you can keep the stock arms at a "max" adjustment level and get the additional height but without the added strain on the bags....this is what Im doing at the moment.

So how much lift do you have in the rear if you are using the stock arms? I assume you aren't getting the 2/3 inches advertised lift, right?

I'm not sure how much lift the stock arms provide...I never measured.
