My 2005 double cab was stolen and recovered. since the truck is old, and not in pristine condition, I carried a fairly high deductible and I understood the risk. but, I got the truck back and the ignition is most definitely FUBAR. there doesn't appear to be any other damage so if I can fix the ignition myself for cheap then that's a way better option!

So, I know I can obtain a new cylinder lock and ignition switch. but, I have a couple questions. in the picture, you can see all the exposed wires. I assume the wires were pulled out of the female connector lying on the floor since that connector looks like it'll mate up to the ignition switch. but can I obtain just that connector somewhere? I know I'll have to either splice some wires on or get the connector crimped on correctly, but I have no clue what the P/N to look for is for the connector.

second, on the lock cylinder is a black part that is snapped on and held in by a zip tie. underneath the dash, I can see a black cable that was snapped off. what is this? I obviously need a new one of these too and would then have to figure out where it connects to inside the truck so can somebody tell me what it is and where it goes?

any spare part numbers would be great. it looks like the dash panel is intact so maybe it isn't overly difficult to repair? suggestions and thoughts from somebody who's replaced the ignition assembly would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Fuck thieves. If that white connector isn't damaged, you can use a small pick and remove all the old connectors from inside it. There will be a small tab inside each one you need to push down and the connector will slide out. You'll need new connectors to put on the wires, and I'm sure someone will come along with the info on where to find them. I think that black part on the ignition is for the transmission lock out. The cable should go to the column shifter.

Nice that you got it back fairly intact. My last car that was stolen was recovered after they had a nice drug fueled crime spree. Back was full of stolen crap and the dash had been painted.

yeah, after some googling, that black thing is part of the steering lock so thanks for pointing me there.

honestly, i think it would have been less hassle if the truck wasn't found or had more damage. right now, i had to pay for the towing and storage and now to fix it. and honestly, it needs some investment in other things too so it may have just been easier to not get it back! but it's back so I'll make the best of it.

    searching for a connector now

That was the second time mine had been stolen, first time it only had a busted window and I felt the same way.

All I'm seeing on ebay are connectors cut off of harnesses. You could get one of those and solder it to your harness. Hell, if you just need a quick fix until you can get everything sorted, you could always just bypass the connector and butt splice it. Definitely put a connector back in there eventually.
