    Hey y'all,

My tundra seems to be sucking fuel down at a much higher rate than my normal 12 mpg. It's right around 10. I decided to drive more consistently with less rpm. I kept it under 2k rpm and got a light. The code is P0430 which means "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (bank 2)". I thought about deleting it to solve the issue however epa took down many of the sites. It goes away if I drive like a Maniac keeping it above 2k rpm.

    Any suggestions?

P0430 means the second cat isn’t performing to spec. Maybe a head fake. The lower mpg suggests one of the two upstream o2 sensors is failing. That drives a richer mixture and hence the poor mpg. The also overloads the downstream cat beyond its capacity, causing the0430 code.

get a code reader on the truck and observe the st and lt fuel trims. That will tell the tale. The side with the large positive number is the one with the bad sensor. Guessing your bank 2 will be around 15 - 20
